St.
&low:
Smion of
Corridor
(between
Bernal Ave.
and
Abbi<5t.).

REGIONAL TRAIL CORRIDOR
RECOMMENDATIONS

The OPTS Mastet Plan tecommends the devel-
opment of a Regional Ttail Corridor with a park-like
chatacter, capable of supporting a variety of uses.
The pOttion of the SPRR right of way located in
downtown Pleasanton is a key link in the area-wide
tegional trail system envisioned by East Bay
Regional Park Disttict (EBRPD). This ttail system
includes access for all non-motorized users, includ-
ing pedestrians, skaters, joggets, bicyclists, and
equesttians.

The OPTS Master Plan proposes that the
Regional Trail accommodate users on separate paths.
The Pedesttian/Bike Path would be suitable for
pedestrian and non-motorized wheeled use. The
Multi-use Path would be unpaved and suitable for
joggers and equestrian use.

Development of the Corridor should also
accommodate the possibility of future light rail rran-
sit installation. Accordingly, the recommendations
of the OPTS Master Plan include serring aside a 35
ft. wide portion of the Regional Trail Corridor as a
zone without permanent structures. There is no
plan for light rail transit at this time.

REGIONAL TRAIL CORRIDOR DESIGN RECOMMENDATIONS

32
