Resolution No. PC-2001-54 Page 3 The relevant purposes of the PUD district include encouraging imagination, insuring that the desires of the developer and the community are understood and approved prior to commencement of construction, and encouraging the establishment of open areas in residential developments. The proposed design is attractive and complements the church use, while maintaining a compatibility with the surrounding uses. The proposal would result in an attractive landscaped open space area within an established residential neighborhood. WHEREAS, the Planning Commission determined that the proposed PUD-P zoning for the entire parcel would be the most appropriate zoning given the existing church use and the zoning of the surrounding property. NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES THE FOLLOWING: Section 1. Recommends approval of Case PUD-87-22-1M, the application of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for a major modification to an approved Planned Unit Development for: (1) rezoning of a 4.8-acre parcel located at 3574 Vineyard Avenue to PUD-P (Planned Unit Development - Public and Institutional), and (2) development plan approval for a private park on the southern 1.97 acres for church- related events, subject to the conditions shown in Exhibit "B.I," attached hereto and made part of this case by reference. Section 2. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption.
