Ordinance No. 1508 <br /> <br /> "Chapter 9.30 <br /> <br /> Water Conservation Plan <br /> <br /> 9.30,010. DECLARATION OF EMERGENCY. <br /> <br /> It is hereby found and declared that a water shortage and <br /> emergency exists within the water service area of the City of <br /> Pleasanton, as total projected customer water use from May through <br /> September (the peak summer period of this and any future year), may <br /> exceed the projected water supply for the same period. It is <br /> necessary to regulate and prohibit certain water uses as provided <br /> in this ordinance in order to address adequately this water <br /> shortage and emergency. <br /> <br /> 9.30.020. DECLARATION OF PURPOSE. <br /> <br /> The purpose of Ordinance is to provide both voluntary and <br /> mandatory water conservation stages to minimize the effect of a <br /> shortage of water on the City's customers and, by means of this <br /> Ordinance, to adopt provisions that will significantly reduce the <br /> consumption of water over an extended period of time, thereby <br /> extending the available water required for the City's customers <br /> while reducing the hardship to the greatest extent possible on or <br /> to the City and on or to the general public. <br /> <br /> 9.30,030. APPLICATION OF ORDINANCE. <br /> <br /> The provisions of this ordinance shall apply to all <br /> customers, as defined herein, regardless of whether any customer <br /> using water shall have a contract for water service with the City. <br /> Notwithstanding other Municipal Code provisions inconsistent with <br /> this Ordinance, the provisions of this Ordinance shall supersede <br /> and prevail for the duration of the emergency and until termination <br /> of this Ordinance. <br /> <br /> 9.30,040. DEFINITIONS. <br /> <br /> A. "Allocation" means the amount of water used by a customer <br /> during the comparable summer'billing period in 1990, as <br /> reduced by the percentage established in Stage II through <br /> Stage VI herein; provided, however, that for residential <br /> customers, the allocation shall never exceed the <br /> "ceiling" as established in the various Stages. <br /> <br /> B. "Ceiling" means twice the amount of the "floor." <br /> C. "City" means the City of Pleasanton. <br /> 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
