6. The location of both the exhaust and inlet air openings shall be arranged to provide air movement across all portions of the floor or room to prevent the accumulation of vapors. 7. Exhaust ventilation shall not be recirculated within the room or building if the materials stored are capable of emitting hazardous vapors. Section 80.301(n). SeParation of Incompatible Hazardo~ Materials. Storage of incompatible hazardous materials shall be separated. Separation shall be accomplished by: 1. Segregating incompatible hazardous materials storage by a distance of not less than 20 feet. 2. Isolating incompatible hazardous materials storage by a noncombustible partition extending not less than 18 inches above and to the sides of the stored material, or 3. Storing in hazardous materials storage cabinets or gas cabinets. Materials which are incompatible shall not be stored within the same cabinet. [Delete Section 80,301(o)] Section 80.301(D). Fire-extinquishinq Systems. For quantities of hazardous materials in excess of the exempt amounts specified in Sections 80,302 through 80,315, unless exempted or otherwise provided for in Sections 80,302 through 80,315, indoor storage areas and storage buildings shall be protected by an automatic sprinkler system. The design of the sprinkler system shall not be less than that required by the Building Code for Ordinary Hazard Group 3 with a minimum design area of 3,000 square feet. See U.B.C. Standard No. 38.1. Where the materials or storage arrangement require a higher level of sprinkler system protection in accordance with nationally recognized standards, the higher level of sprinkler system protection shall be provided. Exception: Approved alternate automatic fire- extinguishing systems are allowed. 12
