Section 80.301{1)- Spill Control, Drainaqe Control and <br />Secondary Containment- 1. General. Unless exempted or <br />otherwise provided for in Sections 80,302 through 80,315, <br />rooms, buildings or areas used for the storage of solid <br />and or liquid hazardous materials in excess of the exempt <br />amounts specified in Sections 80,302 through 80,315 shall <br />be provided with a means to control spillage and to <br />contain or drain off spillage and fire protection water <br />discharged in the storage area in accordance with this <br />subsection and the Building Code. Materials present <br />below the exempt amounts specified in Sections 80.302 <br />through 80.315 shall be provided with an approved method <br />of spill protection designed to address a release from <br />the single largest container. Such spill protection <br />shall take into consideration the amount and hazard of <br />the materials and the nature of the facility. <br /> <br /> [Delete Sections 80,301(1)2-(1)4] <br /> Section 80.301(m). Ventilation. For quantities of <br /> hazardous materials in excess of the exempt amounts <br /> specified in Sections 80.302 through 80.315, unless <br /> exempted or otherwise provided for in sections 80.302 <br /> through 80.315, indoor storage areas and storage <br /> buildings shall be provided with mechanical exhaust <br /> ventilation. <br /> Exhaust ventilation systems shall comply with the <br /> following: <br /> <br /> 1. Installation shall be in accordance with the <br /> Mechanical Code. <br /> 2. Mechanical ventilation shall be at a rate of not less <br /> than I cubic foot per minute per square foot of floor <br /> area over the storage area. <br /> <br /> 3. Systems shall operate continuously. Alternate <br /> designs may be approved by the chief. <br /> 4. A manual shutoff control shall be provided outside <br /> the room adjacent to the access door into the room or in <br /> a location approved by the chief. The switch shall be of <br /> the break-glass type and shall be labeled .,Ventilation <br /> System Emergency Shutoff." <br /> <br /> 5. Exhaust ventilation shall be arranged to consider the <br /> density of the potential fumes or vapors released. For <br /> fumes or vapors that are heavier than air, exhaust shall <br /> be taken from a point within 12 inches of the floor. <br /> <br /> 11 <br /> <br /> <br />
