Ordinance No. 1584 <br />Page Ten <br /> <br /> C. is convicted of driving while under the influence of <br /> intoxicating beverages or drugs; <br /> <br /> D. is convicted of two (2) or more offenses involving <br /> driving during any continuous six-month period; or <br /> <br /> E. fails to display the Driver's permit as required in <br /> Section 6.40.170 of this Chapter. <br /> <br /> 6.40.220 Operatinq Requirements. <br /> <br /> A. Taximeter required. It is unlawful for any Owner or <br /> Driver to operate any Taxicab in the City unless such <br /> Taxicab is equipped with a Taximeter of such type, style, <br /> and design as may be approved by the Chief of Police. It <br /> shall be the responsibility of every Owner operating a <br /> Taxicab to keep such Taximeter in perfect condition so <br /> that said Taximeter will, at all times, correctly and <br /> accurately indicate the correct charge for the distance <br /> traveled and waiting time, and such Taximeter shall be at <br /> all times subject to inspection by the Chief of Police. <br /> The Chief of Police is authorized at the Chief's <br /> instance, or upon any complaint of any person to <br /> investigate or cause to be investigated such Taximeter, <br /> and upon discovery of any inaccuracy in the meter, to <br /> remove or cause to be removed such Taxicab equipped with <br /> such Taximeter from the streets of the City until such <br /> time as. the Taximeter shall have been correctly adjusted. <br /> The Taximeter shall be certified by having a <br /> certification sticker affixed by the State Department of <br /> Bureau of Weights and Measures, which has the sole <br /> authority to certify such meters. The transmission shall <br /> have affixed a seal designated and approved by the Chief <br /> of Police to certify that the gear ratio conforms to the <br /> measurements made of the Taximeter by the State <br /> Department of Bureau of Weights and Measures. <br /> <br /> B. Reqistration of Fares. Every Taximeter shall register <br /> the charge to the nearest ten cents and be equipped with <br /> a flag or other mechanical device with the words "For <br /> Hire" printed or stamped thereon, and the flag shall be <br /> so attached and connected to the mechanism of the <br /> Taximeter as to cause the mechanism to operate when the <br /> flag is in a position other than upright and indicate <br /> that the Taxicab is not for hire, and which said flag <br /> shall, when moved forward or downward, start the <br /> operation of the Taximeter so that the same will operate <br /> in the manner defined in this section. <br /> <br /> <br />
