Robert Cordtz, 262 West Angela, expressed concern with issues relating to the flood control plan and <br />alternatives for the project. He requested that staff be directed to provide proposed assumptions for cost <br />estimating purposes and the proposed design standards and improvement of channels. Further, he <br />requested that staff provide information relating to the length of the Bernal bridge, alternative scenarios <br />available to Zone 7, and information of Zone 7 actions being made available to the public. <br /> <br />Matt Morrison, 5581 oA Sonoma Drive, expressed concern with the possibility of radioactive <br />contamination on the San Francisco Bemal property. He provided an overview of his effort to <br />substantiate and gain information relating to contamination and requested a future review of the <br />property. He provided staff with literature relating to the Bernal site and stated he would provide the <br />Commission with updates from the Livermore Hazardous Materials Group relating to contamination on <br />the site. <br /> <br />Carl Pretzel, 3633 Glacier, expressed concern with flood control issues. He noted that capacity of <br />stream needs to be increased. He expressed concern with traffic at the schools, the location of school <br />site, and children from this development bringing schools to full capacity. He noted that the <br />development will consume the amenity provided and requested a longer time-frame to ensure the proper <br />the sequence of design in the infrastructure. He expressed concern with the round-abouts and <br />narrowness of streets in the development and suggested that a smaller development be developed before <br />committing to a project of this magnitude. <br /> <br />Rik Kretzinger, 4109 Holland Drive, noted the importance of developing a youth sport parks in <br />Pleasanton and noted that the amenity for parks may not be enough. He requested that the Commission <br />give consideration to the planning of sports parks. <br /> <br />Carole Varela, 3858 Mohr Avenue, expressed concem with misinformation provided to the community <br />relating to the General Plan, the low income housing effects on the community, and the community's <br />concern with traffic and school overcrowding issues. Further, she noted that project should not be <br />approved just to ensure additional youth sports parks. She expressed concern with the changes in the <br />quality of life for the residents of the community, and stated that the community's problems should be <br />resolved before further development is approved. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued relating to the need for additional public input relating to the San Francisco Bernal <br />property. <br /> <br />Mark Hillenbrand readdressed the Commission and suggested that property adjacent to the sewer <br />treatment plant be developed as a sports park. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued among the Commissioners and staff relating to the development of signals on Bernal <br />near 1-680 on-ramps and off-ramps, developing acceleration lanes versus installing lights on Bemal, the <br />golf course and open space remaining in perpetuity, the cost of the purchase of the property, 25 percent <br />of units designated to affordable housing, an increase in the number of affordable housing units, ingress <br />and egress issues relating to the Fairgrounds, issues relating to removal of trees, and the 1998 Base Line <br />Traffic Study. <br /> <br />PLANNiNG COMMISSION MINUTES Page 5 June 9, 1999 <br /> <br /> <br />
