Timeline for Police Chief and Discussion of Desirable Characteristics <br /> <br />Deborah Acosta, City Manager, referenced a memorandum from Kathy Ferreira, to the Planning <br />Commission, dated March 5, 1999, and informed the Commission she would like their input relating to <br />desirable characteristics for the applicant in the recruitment of the Police Chief. Ms. Acosta provided an <br />overview of the selection process and the timeline for hiring of a new police chief. <br /> <br />The Commission noted the qualifications for the position of police chief should include: <br /> <br /> resident of the Pleasanton area <br /> <br /> sensitivity and respectfulness for diversity in the community and on the police force and <br /> foster this behavior on the police force <br /> <br /> high degree of personal integrity <br /> technical knowledge <br /> high degree of sensitivity to civil liberties <br /> ability to work with the youth of Pleasanton <br /> <br />e. Review of City Unfunded Capital Improvement Projects <br /> <br /> Steven Bocian, Assistant City Manager, provided an overview of a memorandum dated February 24, <br /> 1999 relating to the review of unfunded capital improvement projects and allocation of $825,000 <br /> earmarked for special projects.
