Commissioner Arkin concurred with Commissioner Maas' statement that box signs are not <br />aesthetically pleasing. He stated he would support the applicant installing an aesthetically <br />pleasing ornate sign in lieu of the box sign. <br /> <br />Commissioner Kameny noted he would support signage left and right of the entrance and over <br />the enmmce door, if signs were aesthetically pleasing. He noted he would be in support of a new <br />monument sign. <br /> <br />Commissioner Kameny moved that there be no signs on the sides of the building; that existing <br />cabinet signs be removed and that aesthetically pleasing signs be installed in concert with a sign <br />over the enlrance of the building. Further, that the applicant work with the owner, other tenants, <br />and staff on the issue of installing a new monument sign entitled" The Olde Antique Plaza." <br />Commissioner Arkin seconded the motion. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Kameny, seconded by Commissioner Arkin, that <br />there be no signs on the sides of the building; that the existing cabinet signs be removed <br />amd that aesthetically pleasing painted wood signs with overhead, antique=style fighting, be <br />installed in concert with the sign over the entrance of the building. Further, if a monument <br />sign is desired, that the applicant work with the owner, other tenants, and staff on the issue <br />of installing a new monument sign entitled" The Olde Antique Plaza." <br /> <br />ROLL CALL VOTE <br />AYES: Commissioners Arkin, Kameny, Maas, Sullivan and Chairperson Roberts <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />Resolution No. PC-2000-26 was entered and adopted as motioned. <br /> <br />Cornmiasioner Maas disclosed she met with Mr. Torres. <br /> <br />bo <br /> <br />]~CUP-$. Richard and Lvnne Hudson <br />Application for a conditional use permit to construct an attached second unit of <br />approximately 794-square feet at the residence under construction located at 2794 West <br />Ruby Hill Drive. Zoning for the property is PUD-A/OS/LDR (Planned Unit <br />Development - Agriculture/Open Space/Low Density Residential) District. <br /> <br />Mr. Plucker referenced a staff report dated April 26, 2000 and highlighted key areas contained in <br />the report including background information, project description, and off-street parking. In <br />conclusion, he noted that staff's recommendation is that the Commission approve Case PCUP-05 <br />by making the conditional use permit findings as listed in the staff report and approve Case <br />PCUP-05 subject to the conditions listed in Exhibit "B." <br /> <br />Chairperson Roberts advised that the Commission does not review house plan approvals for <br />Ruby Hill homes due to the homes being reviewed by the Ruby Hill Architectural Review <br />Committee. <br /> <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES April 26, 2000 Page 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
