CHILD CARE <br /> <br />CHILD CARE AND SUPERVISED YOUTH ACTIVITIES <br /> <br />Goal: <br /> <br />Provide access to quality, affordable child care for Pleasanton children from birth through <br />elementary school. <br /> <br />Objectives: <br /> <br />Promote the expansion of existing and the creation of new child care opportunities by <br />encouraging joint-use partnerships among businesses, schools, community organizations <br />and/or the City to effectively utilize funding resources and space. (!) <br /> <br />· Develop a mechanism for encouraging and facilitating collaborative approaches to the <br /> community's need for quality and accessible child care. (!) <br /> <br />Note: The Liaison Committee combined these two objectives together since they appear to <br />overlap. <br /> <br />SUPERVISED YOUTH ACTIVITIES <br /> <br />Goal: <br /> <br />Provide age-appropriate, supervised youth activities that offer safe, positive, enriching <br />opportunities for Pleasanton youth. <br /> <br />Objectives: <br /> <br />· Design, develop and implement a plan that provides a place (or places) for middle and <br /> high school students to "hang out". (!) <br /> <br />· Encourage the City to build or provide additional space for a visual and performing arts <br /> community center for increased dance, art, music and drama opportunities for youth. (! +) <br /> <br />Note: The Liaison Committee recognizes that the goal 'Reduce the opportunities for risky <br />behavior, including juvenile crime; drug, alcohol and tobacco u~e; ...' and its objectives are <br />incorporated into other areas of the overall plan (e.g., goal four of 'lntergenerational <br />Relationships' and goal two of 'Healthy Youth and Families". This goal and its obiectives <br />may be accomplished through the implementation of similar goals in other areas of the plan <br />as well. - Liaison Committee <br /> <br /> <br />
