· Desired objectives/programs where consensus has not yet been achieved on the <br /> scope or best strategy for implementation. <br /> <br />· Goals and objectives that may seek to change or influence cultural, economic, <br /> or societal patterns that are deeply entrenched. <br /> <br />The Plan does not seek to prioritize its goals and objectives, leaving that task to the <br />implementation phase. Actual assessment as to the current level of public interest, feasibility, <br />ease of implamentation, and cost and potential funding source of each goal and objective will <br />need to be made during the implementation phase of the process. <br /> <br />Implementation <br /> <br />The key to the Plan's success will be in its wise and methodical implementation. The Youth <br />Master Plan should be viewed as a guide for further identification, evaluation, prioritization and <br />possible implementation of the various themes, goals and objectives. <br /> <br />This viewpoint was underscored recently at California Park and Recreation Society Institute on <br />Youth Development Plans held in Sacramento. This statewide symposium featured <br />administrators from Claremont, California; Encinitas, California; and Hampton, Virginia. Each <br />city has received widespread recognition as a pioneer in the development of youth master plans, <br />and emphasized the implementation phase as the key determiner for success of any youth master <br />plan process. <br /> <br />The Implementation Plan for the Youth Master Plan of Pleasanton contains two (2) main <br />components: Communication and Coordination. <br /> <br />Conll'nuniea ~tjgn (p. 44 of the Plan) - A series of objectives call for a comprehensive effort to <br />entice the community,s awareness of youth related activities and programs. Establishing <br />directories, media partnerships, information centers and other efforts are potential methods to <br />"get the word out." Coordination and good communication among all youth related agencies are <br />also important to the implementation of the Plan. The Plan recommends that a communications <br />professional and administrative assistant be retained to effect and facilitate these communicatioti <br />efforts and the actual implementation of the Plan. Staff estimates these costs to be <br />approximately $56,000 annually, and an ongoing'commitment of funds would need to be <br />established. <br /> <br />Coordination (p.48 of the Plan) - The Implementation Plan calls for the establishment of a Youth <br />Master Plan Implementation Group, and corresponding process to implement elements of the <br />Plan. <br /> <br /> · The City Council and PUSD Board of Trustees shall approve the Youth Master Plan of <br /> Pleasanton. <br />SR 01:124 <br />Page 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
