survey will identify potential surface indicators of historic or pre-historic sites, and
must be conducted by a qualified azchaeologist, walking transec[s no more than 30
meters apart. Compliance with this condition protects against inadvertent damage to
undiscovered culmral resources because demazcating indicators (if any are found) will
result in grading activities either avoiding those aeeas, or implementation of further
mitigation through a Resource Recovery Plan. This type of investigation provides
clearance-level coverage for the site.
b. PtJD Condition _ addresses mitigation for sites which may be discovered
during future survey or monitoring activities and recommends they either be avoided
or appropriately mitigated through a Resource Recovery Plan that meets appropriate
professional, City and State standards. The purpose of the Plan is to guide the
gathering of a sufficient quantity and variety of data at identified sites. The Resource
Recovery Plan must be approved prior to any grading (or construction-related)
activities. For those areas set aside for later investigation, no construction may occur
until the investigation is completed. Should human remains or a burial site be
discovered, the Property Owner will consult with the City and tribal representatives to
determine the appropriate disposition of findings. Compliance with PUD Condition _
will ensure the integrity of any, as yet, undiscovered archaeological sites either by
avoiding them, or identifying further mitigation in the Resource Recovery Plan.
Documentation of the findings will ensure they are recorded and handled in
accordance with established standazds.
2. Grading and construction-related activities could have a potentially adverse
effect on the two known prehistoric sites. One of the two sites (located on Parcel 4) is
designated as currently unplanned public space which will be considered as part of
Phase 1] of the GHCBI Project.
