SECTION VII (Continued) <br /> <br />interest from participating in a decision involving a resubmitted application <br />if the Councilmember is no longer required to abstain. <br /> <br />Continuation of an Item <br /> <br />1. Con~mmnce by a Councilmember. <br /> <br />Any Cotmcilmember may continue an item (not subject to a legally or City- <br />imposed deadline) to the next Council meeting or to another date agreeable to a <br />majority of the Council. An agenda item may be continued only once using this <br />procedure. <br /> <br />2. Other Continuances <br /> <br />The applicant or other member of the public may request a continuance of an item <br />and a Council majority may grant one continuance, provided, however that a <br />request for a further continuance may be granted by a 4/5 vote of the Council and <br />only if it finds that: <br /> <br />the need for the continuance was beyond the control of the person <br />requesting it; and <br /> <br />the need for the continuance arose after (a) the date the notice of public <br />hearing was published, if the item is a public hearing item, or (b) the date <br />the Council agenda was posted for an item for which a public hearing is <br />not required. <br /> <br />Protests <br /> <br />Any Councilmember shall have the right to enter into the record reasons for opposing any <br />motion carried by the majority. <br /> <br />Motion toReconsider <br /> <br />Any member who voted with the majority may move reconsideration of any action at the <br />same meeting or at the next regular meeting, providing no legal rights have intervened <br />to create an estoppel. A majority of the Council present must approve the motion to <br />reconsider. After a motion for reconsidera~on has once been acted on, no other motion <br />for reconsidera~on thereof shall be made without unanimous approval. <br /> <br />Auneals <br /> <br />Any Councilmember may appeal a decision of City staff or of any board or commission <br />as provided in the Pleasanton Municipal Code.
