Personnel justifications," "Department of Public Safety, <br /> Police Division, Additional Personnel Justifications~" <br /> and "Department of Public Safety, Personnel Requests~' <br /> were transmitted to the City Council for their informa- <br /> tion and review; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Manager presented at the City Council meeting of <br /> November 29, 1976 a verbal report of alternatives avail-- <br /> able for the use of the aforementioned monies and indica- <br /> ted the advantages and disadvantages of each alternative; <br /> and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Manager noted that the City's fire loss has been <br /> declining over the past two years and that the largest <br /> number of fire calls (approximately 60% are in the area <br /> of District Number 1 served by Station 1; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, alternative Number 1 would provide -two additional fire- <br /> fighters and two additional police officers; and alterna- <br /> tive Number 2 would provide for a fire chief, assistant <br /> fire chief and two police officers; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Manager recommended that the City Council adopt <br /> alternative Number 2 since this would stabilize the <br /> administrative structure of the fire division, increase <br /> the manpower at Station 1 by allowing the reassi~nment <br /> of the positions of Captains from a forty hour work week <br /> to shift duty, and provide a Comman Officer on duty <br /> twenty-four hours per day; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor noted that each men~er of the Council had <br /> received a written recommendation from the firefighters' <br /> local regarding use of the available monies; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council deliberated on the above alternatives <br /> as set forth in information received in writing and <br /> orally from the City ~anager and from the fire fighters <br /> local~ <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNC!t,~)F THE CITY OF PLEAST~qTON DOES <br /> RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> <br />
