WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WtiEREAS , WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, CITY OF PLEASANTON COUNTY OF ALAmeDA STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION NO. 76-272 A RESOLUTION APPROVING ADDITIONAL ~NPOWER FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND AMENDING SAID DEPART~[NT'S BUDGET ACCORDINGLY the Department of Public Safety was formally approved by the City Council at its meeting of January 26, 1976 by the adoption of Resolution No. 76-19 (A Resolution Relating to the Establishment of a Public Safety Depart- ment in the City of Pleasanton); and the City Council has been appraised of the need for addi- tional personnel in the police and fire divisions of said department; and the City Council was advised at its meeting of 1976 that due to increases in assessed valuation and sales tax revenue some $93,478 in additional monies were available; and the City Council directed the City Manager to provide the City Council with a report regarding the alternative uses which could be made of said money in the Department of Public Safety; and the City Manager and his staff investigated various alternatives for use of said monies; and meetings were held with representatives of the Inter- national Association of Fire Fighters Local 1974 and representatives of the police officers during the course of determining the variou~ alternatives; and these meetings were intended by the City Manager and Director of Public Safety (both of whom attended most of the meetings either separately or together) to obtain! imput from the public safety personnel and to explain the alternatives being devised; and WHEREASs various written reports dated November 1, 1976, entitled I~Department of Public Safety, Fire Division, Additional
