13.2 continued <br /> <br />13.3 <br /> <br />An employee eligible for temporary disability payments <br />may use accumulated sick leave in order to maintain <br />his regular income; provided, however, that the employee <br />shall be allowed a credit against sick leave to the <br />extent that temporary disability payments are retained <br />by the City. <br /> <br />In order to receive compensation while absent on sick <br />leave the employee shall notify his/her immediate superior <br />or the Personnel Officer prior to or within four hours <br />after the time set for beginning his/her ~aily duties <br />or as may be specified by the Fire Chief. When absence <br />is for more than one full shift, the employee may be <br />required to file a physicianms certificate.or a per- <br />sonal affidavit with the Personnel Officer stating <br />the cause of the absence. <br /> + <br /> <br />Sick Leave Increments <br /> <br /> Charge for sick leave used shall be on the. basis of one <br /> (1) hour for each hour= used in increments of twenty-four <br /> (24) hours.for employees assigned to a 24-hour duty' <br /> schedule; provided, however, that: <br /> <br />"(1) If-an ~mployee reports for duty before 12:00 Noon <br /> on the second or a~y subsequent consecutive on?duty <br /> day after an illness with a written statement from - <br /> a person licensed to practice medicine or dentistry, <br /> <br /> (2)' If an employee becomes ill while on the job and must <br /> leave before the end of his/her shift, sick leave <br /> shall be charged, for only those hours when the <br /> employee w~s absent from work. <br /> <br />Secbion <br /> <br />14.2 <br /> <br />Leaves of Absence <br /> <br />Leave' of 2~Dsence Without Pay '~'~ <br /> <br />The appointing authority may grant a full-time employee <br />leave of' absence without pay or seniority for not to <br />exceed three (3) months. No such leave shall be granted <br />except in writing and upon written request of the employee <br />setting forth the reason therefor. Upon expiration of a <br />regularly approved .leave the employee shall be reinstated <br />in the position held at the time leave was granted. <br />Failure on the part of an ~mployee on leave to report <br />promptly at its expiration or within a reasonable time <br />after notice to return to duty shall be cause for dis- <br />cipline. The Fire Chief may grant a full-time e~ployee <br />leave'of absence without pay for not to exceed one (1) <br />calendar week. Such leaves shall be reported to the <br />Personnel Officer. <br /> <br />Jury Leave <br /> <br />Every employee of the City who is called or required to <br />serve as a=juror shall be entitled to leave from his/h~r <br />duties with the City during the period of such service or <br />w~ile necessarily being present in cour. t as a result of <br />such call. The employee shall be paid the difference <br />between his/her full salary and any payment received by <br />him/her, except travel pay, for such duty. <br /> <br /> <br />
