Presentation~of the SAVE Pet. ition <br /> <br />The City Clerk read the Certificate of Examination of ~the SAVE <br />Initiative which stated that signatures in excess 'of, 10% of the <br />registered~ voters of the City ~of Pleasanton were affixed.~to the <br />petition. <br /> <br />The City Attorney advised the'Council that they could~eithe~ adopt <br />the proposed ordinance .without alteration or place it on t/Te~ ballot <br />for the municipal election to be held on April 1-1o,. .1972. <br /> <br />After some. discuss.ion of the petition, it was moved by Councilman <br />Spiliotopoulos and seconded.~by!~Coun~ci'lman" Pearslon that ~Reselution <br />No. 72-21, approving.'the placing of an~ Initia~ive~p~o~osa~ en the <br />ballot at the .~ regular municipal election 'on April i1~,' 1~712, be <br />adopted. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Gerton <br /> <br />Final Determination' Reqarding Ballot Measures <br /> <br />Mr. Edgar stated that the salary of City Treasurer could not be <br />changed during the 4 year tenure of office but it can be changed <br />at this time, effective when the Treasurer takes office in April. " <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman <br />Beratlis that Ordinance No. 650, reducing the salary of City Treasurer <br />from $200.00 per month to $50.00 per month, be introduced. <br /> <br />The roll call vote, was' as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis,~ Pearson,-~Spi-liotopoulos~ a~d Ma~or Reid <br />NOES: None <br />.ABSENT: Councilman Gerton <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regarding an increase in councilmen salary. <br /> <br />Councilman Spiliotopoulos stated that he felt that acceptin~g compen- <br />sation for being a councilman detracted from' the hono-r-of,-serving <br />the people. <br /> <br /> It was moved by ~Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman <br /> Pearson ~.that .Resolution No. 72-24, authorizing the placing a prop- <br /> osition on the regular M~nicipal Election Ballot April 11, 1972 <br /> changing the present $50.00 per month compensation for Councilmen to <br /> $100.00 per month, be adopted. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br /> AYES: Councilme~Be. ratlis',~ Pearson and Mayor Reid <br /> NOES: Councilman SpL. liotopoulos <br /> ABSENT:.
