Mr. Castro, added-that the.. P~leasanton <br />Chamber of Commerce recommended that the. application of Citizens <br />Federal Savings and Loan be denied. <br /> <br />Mr. John Corley, attorney_ representing the Citizen',s. Federal~.'-Savings <br />and Loan stated that he felt that Pleasanton could support two <br />Savings and Loan Associations and the. City would benifit b~ this <br />facility and did not -fee~ it was. located t~o clos~ ~to ~the existing <br />Franklin Savings and Loan on' Main-Street. <br /> <br />There being no further response from the audience, it was moved by <br />Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by .Councilman 'Beratlisl that <br />the public hearing be closed. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Pearson, Spiliotopou~los an~d~ Mayor~ Reid <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Gerton <br /> <br />Councilman Spiliotopoulos stated that he coul'd not approve Citizens. <br />Federal Savings and Loan application'. to .lloca.~e..o.u~side,~-theI~downtown <br />care area because of the City's moral committment to Franklin-S.avings <br />and Loan who recently opened offices on Main Street~ <br /> <br />Councilman Pearson argued that there was.not sl~fficient parking in <br />the downtown business district to warrant forcing< a. company to <br />locate there. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Spiliotopou'los. and seconded vby Councilman <br />Beratlis that the appeal of Citizens Federal.~Savin~s-a.~d~-'Leaa.
