MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS
Item 8a
Report on Street Lighting - Golden Eagle Development on Foothill
Road

Mr. Elliott presented his report (IR 90:17) regarding the
matter.

Mr. John Innes, 1586 Foothill Road, stated that when Golden
Eagle Farms first applied for PUD approval, the residents
expressed that the development should be consistent with the rural
atmosphere on Foothill Road. One of the concerns was street
lighting and road traffic safety. The redesign of the street was
undertaken by Mr. Ted Fairfield, then consulting engineer for the
Walter Johnson estate. Unobtrusive and rural-looking sodium vapor
lamps have been placed in the interior of the project; however,
regular sodium vapor street lights were placed outside. He
expressed concern that six of the 13 new homes would have noise
and traffic safety problems, and five homes have master bedrooms

-7-
2-20-90
