Ayn Wieskamp, 1587 Cross Creek, said the project offers pristine parkland to the
Ridgeland. She indicated the Park District has acquired the two-acre Williams in-fill parcel that
sits in the middle of the Ridgeland, so a development will not be in the middle of the park. She
said Passport Homes is a reputable builder and feels the development would be an asset to the
City. She hoped the agreements could be worked out.

Linda Chavez, East Bay Regional Park District, Oakland, said she has worked with the
developer regarding the open space area. She said this area will help define the northern
boundary of Pleasanton Ridge and helps improve the access to the Park. She said the Park
District supports the project according to staffs recommendation and looked forward to the
dedication of the property.

Geoff Cooper, 7534 Flagstone Court, said he is a protector of the Ridgeland, and supports
the East Bay Regional Park District in its decisions. He has never seen East Bay Regional Park
District fail. He feels the District gives him a good value for his money. He supported the
project in order to receive the 55 acres for the park. He drove the area and felt the homes would
not be very visible. He urged Council to support the project.

Jeff Narum, 7749 Palmdale Court, said he is interested in any project that would effect
the view of the Ridgeland. He supported this project because he felt the residents of Pleasanton
would benefit from the 55 acres that will be added to the park and the development as proposed
only adds a small number of homes. He asked Council to support the project.

There being no further speakers, the public hearing was closed.

Ms. Michelotti said she visited the property. She said the view of the project from 1-580
is minimal. She felt this was a great trade off. She was happy that the Park District was getting
such a large amount of land and that not one tree was going to be cut down. She appreciated
everyone who supported the project.

Ms. Dennis also visited the site and felt the 55 acres was a great benefit. She appreciated
the support from the speakers.

Mr. Pico commented he was dismayed that this project has been made an exception to the
670-foot limit on development on the side of the ridge. lie said Measure F, that was supported
by the majority of Pleasanton, Section 2, defines the Ridgeland area as 13,000 acres generally
bounded by 1-580, Palomar Road, Niles Canyon Road and the 670 foot residential open space
boundary along Foothill Road. He thought nothing would be built beyond that limit. He said to
date there are two lots above that limit. He has a strong personal bias against approving any
additional residential development west of Foothill Road and he intended to honor his
commitments made to the residents of Pleasanton.

Pleasanton City Council 14 03/16/99
Minutes
