It was moved by Mr. Pico, and seconded by Mayor Tarver, to adopt Resolution No.
98-70 to deny the settlement agreement between Pleasanton, Livermore and Alameda
County Waste Management concerning the Altamont Landf'ffi Expansion; directing the City
of Pleasanton's representative on the Authority Board to vote again~ the downsized !andf'ffi
application; and indicating that the City of Pleasanton is against an 80 million ton Altamont
land fill.

Ms. Dennis said she has expressed her concerns. The stakes are very high now. The
City is stepping into the lead role for the Valley. But she supported the motion.

Ms. Michelotti felt that the settlement is not good enough. She respected and supported
Councilmember Dermis's decision. She had grave concerns that the City was passing up this
opportunity but was hopeful that it would get a better deal.

Mayor Tarver said this Council in closed session gave direction to staff as to what course
the City should follow along with the City of Livermore. He understood that this is a very
difficult decision to make after coming this far to try and reach a compromise that would limit
the City's exposure, and to have to be in a situation to say the City cannot support this
settlement.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, Pico and Mayor Tarver.
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

7.
