6.68.010 <br />Chapter 6.68 <br />EXTRASENSORY CONSULTING <br />Sections: <br />6.68.010 Definitions <br />6.68.020 Police Department <br /> Permit Requirement <br /> And Conditions <br />6.68.030 Police Department <br /> Permit Application <br /> And Processing <br />6.68.040 Grant Or Denial Of <br /> Police Department <br /> Permit; Appeals <br />6.68.050 Term Of Police <br /> Department Permit <br /> And Renewal <br />6.68.060 Posting Of Prices And <br /> Consumer Information <br />6.68.070 Exceptions <br />6.68.080 Revocation; Suspension <br />6.68.090 Inspection <br />6.68.010 Definitions: <br />For the purposes of this Chapter. the <br />following words and phrases are defined <br />as follows: <br />A. "Extrasensory consulting" shall <br />mean and include any of the following <br />diverse philosophies and their associated <br />techniques for understanding beings, <br />events, or circumstances, or forecasting of <br />future events or trends, or furnishing of <br />information which are not otherwise ob- <br />tainable by ordinary processes of know- <br />ledge, but are obtained by means of any <br />occult or psychic power, faculty or force, <br />including, but not limited to: New Age <br />awareness; astrology; augury or other <br />divination; auras; casting dice, runes, or <br />other objects; cards, cartomancy or tarot; <br />channeling or contacting spirits of de- <br />ceased persons, animals or plants; clair- <br />voyance; crystal gazing or attuning; extra- <br />sensory perception (ESP); feng shui or <br />similar practices: fortunetelling; graphol- <br />ogy and handwriting analysis; geomancy; <br />I Ching; magic; mind-reading or telepa- <br />thy; necromancy; numerology; palmistry; <br />phrenology or face reading; psychometry; <br />regression or past-life reading; tea leaves <br />or other such readings; talisman, charm or <br />potion; hypnotism which is not conducted <br />by a State licensed psychiatrist, psycholo- <br />gist or other medical doctor; or any other <br />associated craft, art or science not li- <br />censed by the State or regulated by any <br />other section of this Code. <br />B. "For pay" shall mean for a fee, re- <br />ward, donation, loan, or receipt of <br />anything of value. <br />C. "Police Chief ' means the Chief of <br />Police of the Pleasanton Police Depart- <br />ment, or his or her designee. (Ord. 1770 <br />§ 1, 1999) <br />6.68.020 Police Department Per- <br />mit Requirement And <br />Conditions: <br />A. No person shall conduct, engage in, <br />carry on, or practice extrasensory consult- <br />ing, or cause the same to be done, for pay <br />without first having obtained a Police <br />Department permit for extrasensory con- <br />sulting from the Police Chief. <br />B. No person shall violate any of the <br />terms and conditions of an extrasensory <br />consulting Police Department permit <br />192-85 (Pleasanton 5-99) <br />
