Discussion a-d) There are no known archaeological or historical sites identified on the subject site. If human re- mains are discovered during grading trenching or other on-site excavation, the City requires the applicant to: • Hire a qualified archaeologist to be present on site during the grading and trenching for the foundation(s) and utility services in order to determine if any bone, shell, or artifacts are uncovered. Work on the site will cease immediately. The archaeologist and the Na- tive American Heritage Commission and or their representative shall be consulted to de- velop, if necessary, further mitigation measures to reduce any archaeological impact to a less-than-significant level before construction continues. The applicant shall have the ar- chaeologist produce a letter stating that they were on site during the initial construction activities and the result of their observations at the site. • Prior to the issuance of any building permit, the applicant shall present a contract or letter indicating the archaeologist who will be on site during the initial construction activities.
