If human re- <br />mains are discovered during grading trenching or other on-site excavation, the City requires the <br />applicant to: <br />• Hire a qualified archaeologist to be present on site during the grading and trenching for <br />the foundation(s) and utility services in order to determine if any bone, shell, or artifacts <br />are uncovered. Work on the site will cease immediately. The archaeologist and the Na- <br />tive American Heritage Commission and or their representative shall be consulted to de- <br />velop, if necessary, further mitigation measures to reduce any archaeological impact to a <br />less-than-significant level before construction continues. The applicant shall have the ar- <br />chaeologist produce a letter stating that they were on site during the initial construction <br />activities and the result of their observations at the site. <br />• Prior to the issuance of any building permit, the applicant shall present a contract or letter <br />indicating the archaeologist who will be on site during the initial construction activities. <br />Therefore, this would be a /ess-than-significant-impact. <br />Pleasanton Gateway Initial Study Page 19 of 37 November $ 2006 <br />
