Marion Pavan From: Sent: To: Subject: Steven Liu [mksliu~yahoo.com] Thursday, February 03, 2005 2:30 PM Marion Pavan PUD_42/PSP-8 comments/concerns Mr. Pavan, We support the amendment to the North Sycamore Specific Plan to consider removing a public trail connection between Sycamore Terrace and San Carlos Way on a 1.84-acre site located at 446 Sycamore Road, in the North Sycamore Specific Plan Area Here are the reasons: 1. The sidewalk does not serve any purpose: The only purpose of the sidewalk is for people to walk to the mall 1-2 block away. People can use Sycamore Rd for this purpose and the difference in distance is negligible. 2. The sidewalk creates safety issue: The location and the various elevation of the sidewalk provide safe haven for illegal activities. Currently, one side of San Carlos Ways is a dead end therefore strangers can be easily spotted. But it will be difficult to spot strangers if the sidewalk is built and this present danger to kids playing in the area between 5821 and 5816 San Carlos Way. Two preschool and one primary kids will be directly affected on daily basis at the San Carlos Way side. Also the area is popular for kids to play from San Carlos Way. They are also affected if the sidewalk is built. There could be more kids affected on the sycamore side as well. The sidewalk provides an escape route for burglar. Hence, the security in the immediate area could be compromise as result of the new sidewalk 3. Privacy issue: Due the various elevation of the sidewalk, privacy is an issue 4. Negative impact on property values: Because of the previous mentioned issues, the property values of the houses near the sidewalk will go down. 5.
