Chair Deckert asked if signal cycling was on during commute times. City Engineer <br />Tassano stated coordination was turned off during COVID-19 but was being turned back <br />on. <br />5. Status Update on the Stoneridge Drive and Johnson Drive <br />Improvement/Striping Plan <br />Associate Traffic Engineer Nelson indicated the City was still in the process of acquiring <br />some of the right of way. He anticipated construction beginning early 2022 through the <br />end of 2022. He explained the limited timeframe for construction over the Creek. <br />Member Maciel inquired about the design on westbound Stoneridge at Johnson Drive. <br />City Engineer Tassano explained the westbound approach including four travel lanes and <br />separate bike striping and light to control bike and pedestrian crossing. He discussed <br />difficulty with obtaining Caltrans approval. <br />Member Piekarski expressed appreciation for the design for bicycle lanes on Stoneridge <br />at Johnson Drive. She discussed efforts to reduce climate change and encouraging riding <br />bikes and pedestrian access. She questioned whether there were bus stops and an easy <br />way to get on the trail. City Engineer Tassano stated staff had designed access to <br />Centennial Trail which Caltrans declined. He stated he would bring that connection back <br />as a separate project. He discussed the crossings and traffic signals with bicycle crossing <br />and path access to the trail. Member Piekarski asked if there was a way to make the <br />crossing on the south side and reduce the possible conflicts. City Engineer Tassano <br />stated the project was designed in 2014 and protected intersections were not an option <br />at the time. Member Piekarski discussed the difficult current trail access and suggested <br />a modification. City Engineer Tassano stated the entrance was being redesigned. <br />Member Piekarski asked how a bicyclist would navigate east on Stoneridge. City <br />Engineer Tassano stated it would be the same as at Stanley Valley/Bernal. Member <br />Piekarski asked if the grant for overpasses would be utilized. City Engineer Tassano <br />stated the grant would be used for the 580 overcrossings. He explained that the project <br />was funded through a cooperative agreement between the City and Costco. <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />None. <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />6. Updates from the Parks and Recreation Commission <br />Chair Deckert discussed the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting at which the <br />skate park expansion and all abilities park were discussed; and Library and Recreation <br />quarterly report and Update on Civic Park landscape program were received. <br />7.
