Page 1 of 3 Item #4 YOUTH COMMISSION AGENDA REPORT December 10, 2025 Library and Recreation TITLE: REVIEW AND DISCUSS YOUTH IN GOVERNMENT DAY 2026. SUMMARY At the November Youth Commission meeting, the Commissioners continued to discuss the 2026 Youth in Government Day event. The Commissioners provided feedback on a tentative event timeline, interest flyer and job shadow interest application. RECOMMENDATION Review and discuss Youth in Government Day 2026. BACKGROUND The goal of Youth in Government Day is to stimulate interest in community governance and build knowledge of the democratic process. At the November Youth Commission meeting, the Commission evaluated a tentative event timeline, draft flyer, sign-up genius timing and draft job shadow interest application. They provided the following direction to staff; that input was then shared with PUSD: • Event Timeline: Clarified lunch time job shadow expectations and added more time for transitions • Flyer: Agreed that commissioners would draft a few options for the flyer and bring them to the December meeting • Student Sign-Up Genius: Reviewed feedback from PUSD on timing of sign-up genius launch • Job Shadow Interest Application: Provided feedback on the draft application and asked for PUSD to consider a few additional positions DISCUSSION Following the November Youth Commission meeting, staff shared feedback with staff from PUSD. Staff from both PUSD and the city are continuing with the next steps in the planning of the event, listed below: Tentative Date • Tuesday, February 24, 2026 (held by City and PUSD).Next Steps (Dec–Feb) 1.
