At the s ame time, we have our own water s upply and would not bur den P lea s anton with an additio nal wate r dr ain. We can s ay with confidence that the m ajo r ity of Cas tlewoo d r es idents s uppor t being annexed by the C ity o f Pleas anton. We ar e com m itted to m aking this cas h pos itive fo r the City, including s har ing the cos t o f the annexatio n wor k its elf. As an exam ple of how s e r ious we a r e , we have alr e ady funded an ‘a s is ’ r epo r t on the s ta tus of C as tlewood to pr epar e fo r annexation. P le as e s ee the r e por t a ttached to this com m ent. As yo u might s ee in that r epo r t, C as tlewood could fo r m a new C om m unity S er vice Dis tr ict as an alter native to anne xation. However , this would be a mis s ed oppor tunity for both par ties as we would not be a ble to acces s the r e cur r ing pr oper ty tax r evenue that the C ity co uld thr ough annexation. While we kno w annexa tion will take s ome time, C as tle wood is pr e par ed to make the tr ans itio n a s s o on as this year. We ho pe membe r s of the C ity C ouncil will give us s o me ‘dots ’ in the co ming wor ks hop s o we can mo ve a head fo r our m utual be nefit.
