The total 2024 Expenditure Plan budget of $286,000 for Project Grants was approved by the Board along with the option to <br />carry over all unexpended funds from previous grant years and expend if necessary. A total of $293,526.00 in Project Grants <br />was awarded. <br />Multi-Year Grants <br />The Education Advisory Board awarded 2 Multi-Year Grants in the 2024 cycle. <br />Multi-Year Grant #: 24-41(1) Green Schools Challenge, Alameda County Green Schools Challenge, Alameda, East County, <br />$30,000.00- Funds from this grant will be used to direct technical assistance to district child nutrition directors, district facility <br />managers, custodial staff and faculty; classroom instruction in waste reduction, recycling and composting provided by a credentials <br />teacher with expertise in Zero Waste; student green team training; equipment, including classroom bins and stickers, food share carts, <br />green team aprons and pickers. <br />Multi-Year Grant #: 24-42(1) Oakland Leaf Foundation, Oakland Leaf’s Love Cultivating Schoolyards program (LCS), <br />Oakland, West County, $20,000.00- Funds from this grant will be used to improve the health and wellbeing of and promote <br />environmental conservation to East Oakland youth and will support financial literacy programming and a higher paid stipend for the <br />youth interns. <br />The total 2024 Expenditure Plan budget of $114,000 for Multi-Year Grants was approved by the Board along with the option <br />to carry over all unexpended funds from previous grant years and expend if necessary. A total of $50,000.00 in Multi-Year <br />Grants was awarded. <br />ALARM Mitigation Projects <br />Pursuant to the terms of the settlement agreement, the 2024 Expenditure Plan set aside $0 for mitigation projects for landowners in the <br />vicinity of the landfill. The Education Advisory Board corresponded with ALARM (Altamont Landowners Against Rural <br />Mismanagement) to notify them of the available funding. No applications were submitted for consideration during the 2024 funding <br />cycle. The Board will continue to communicate with ALARM regarding appropriate projects for funding. <br />Page 26 of 223
