The anticipated total
expenditure for this project is $609,322, including a project contingency of $73,000
(approximately 15 percent of the bid amount). The contingency is for unanticipated costs that
may become apparent during the demolition phase, such as increasing the amount of curb and
gutter specified for removal due to conditions in the field that differ from the original survey
used to determine the length of removal necessary to ensure proper drainage. The budget
includes advertising costs, $35,000 for pedestrian push button improvements, $10,000 for
potential tree removal, and $5,000 for material testing services under existing on-call contracts.
The funding and anticipated project expenditures are also provided in Attachment 2.

The anticipated total expenditure of $609,322 leaves a project shortfall of $59,322. Staff
recommends transferring $59,322 from the Annual Sidewalk and Intersection Ramp
Installations (ADA) Project, CIP No. 25505, to complete the funding for this project. The
$550,000 in funding for this project is from Fund 160 – Gas Tax.
