Subject: FW: Lund Ranch II
From: ceen3
Sent: Sunday, November 15, 2015 12:15 PM
To: Mayor and City Council
Subject: Lund Ranch II
Dear Mayor and City Council,
_' ';PCi:;Pr',iMTAL MATERIAL
rrovidscl to the City Council
After Distribution of Packet
Date
. l -1 -Zorn
I am appalled and disappointed that I need to write you on this subject. I, as well as many
others that I have heard talking, thought that our precious hillsides would be protected by
PP and there was no need to show up at meetings and write letters in support of
something already voted on, and that is part of the General Plan. But apparently the vocal
neighbors around Lund Ranch II have made this letter necessary. It's hard for me to
believe that in an effort to please the special interests of a very small percentage of
Pleasanton residents, you are willing to violate Measure PP, which was voted into the
General Plan by a large majority of Pleasanton's citizens.
As you are well aware, the goal of Measure PP was /is to protect and preserve our hillsides
and hilltops from being distroyed. There were no provisions or exceptions due to special
interests regarding traffic concerns. Although all of us can relate to wanting to avoid
having additional traffic in our neighborhoods, traffic concerns are irrelavent in this
matter. (And the increase in neighborhood traffic from Lund Ranch II will be minor,
compared to the increase in traffic outside the neighborhood from all the other new
housing in Pleasanton.)
Violating Measure PP by allowing a road, (which will disrupt and distroy a hillside
area covered by PP), opens the door for more exceptions in the future. No matter how
good your intentions are, if you make one exception, it sets a precedent and sends a
message that our City Council can and will overturn whatever it wants. In the future, those
with deep pockets, loud voices, or personal connections will try to influence future councils
to violate terms in the General Plan to accommodate their wishes. If the people of
Pleasanton can't trust our elected officials not to violate the terms in our General Plan, our
city is in big trouble! People did not vote you into office, to succomb to special interest
groups and violate terms of the General Plan.
A lot of research by experts went into the DEIR for Lund Ranch II
and an environmentally preferred road plan was determined, which
does not violate Measure PP. (Councilmembers and city staff DO
NOT have the expertise to contradict the comprehensive evaluation
1
