1134 <br />The following communications were then read: <br />June 3rd-- Vdestern Pacific Railroad Company, submitting original in duplicate of <br />draft of license covering drainage line along right -of -way in Pleasanton. <br />June 4th -- Pacific Telephone & Telegraph•Company, requesting permission to set one <br />60 foot pole on Neal 3treet,first pole east of railroad track. <br />June 25th -- League of California Municipalities with reference to dues in the <br />Association for the year 1935 and amounting to $35.00. <br />June 25th -- Pacific Gas & Electric Company, regarding the signing of a five year <br />contract for street lighting. <br />July 1st -- Ashton Britten, submitting report of analysis of the outlet at the <br />Sewer Farm for the month of June as against the average analysis of <br />the month of lay. <br />A recess followed during which, the finance committee 'examined claims No.. <br />1 to 43 inclusive and amounting to 1150.95 as well as the officers' monthly <br />reports. Following the recess, Councilman Rivolta of the Finance.Committee, <br />reported that the committee had approved Claims No. 1 to 43 inclusive and <br />moved that they be paid. His motion was seconded by Councilman Madsen. He also <br />reported that the finance committee had approved the officers' monthly reports <br />and moved that they be placed on file. <br />Action'on the communications taken as follows: <br />June 3rd -- Western Pacific Railroad Company. The license was referred to r:Ir. Nilson <br />who in turn advised that the provisions of same were arranged to protect <br />the company's interest and that they were entirely in order and should <br />be signed. Some discussion relative to the license followed between <br />the Councilmen and Mr.-Nilson was advised to go'into the matter of the <br />license a little more thoroughly and if the provisions of same were <br />entirely in order, then the Mayor was to sign the license for the Town <br />of Pleasanton on the advice of-Mr. Nilson. This was done on motion of <br />Councilman Madsen, seconded by Councilman Olesen and with all the Council- <br />men in favor of same. Mr.- Olesen advised that the work done by the <br />municipality along Western-Pacific property had been satisfying to the <br />railroad company. <br />June 4th -- Pacific Telephone &'Telegraph Company. The matter was referred to <br />Mr. Rodrigues and if same was in order he was to sign one of the sketches <br />and return to the Telephone company as authorizing them,to proceed with <br />the plans. <br />June 25th -- League of California Municipalities. Councilman Madsen spoke with <br />reference to the municipality J.oining the League and pointed out numerous <br />benefits which would be received. Mayor•.Orloff called for expression <br />of opinion with reference to the matter from the other Councilmen and <br />they were all favorable to the matter. On motion of Councilman Rivolta <br />seconded by Councilman Madsen and with all the Councilmen in favor.of <br />same yit was voted to join the League and .pay the yearly dues ft 1935 <br />oy. $��35.00. The Clerk -then reviewed the work of the League and answered <br />some questions which had been raised by the Council. Councilman Madsen <br />then spoke with reference to renewing dues later in the season to the <br />California Sewage Association which amounted to $2.00 per year"and <br />pointed out what benefits the Town had been receiving from previous <br />connections with the Association. On motion of Councilman Madsen <br />seconded by Councilman Amaral and with all the councilmen in favor of <br />same it was voted to renew the membership and pay the dues when'the <br />proper time came. <br />June 25th -- Pacific Gas & Electric Co. Councilman Madsen expressed himself <br />again as being anxious to see Pleasanton buy and distribute its own <br />power and against signing contracts with the Pacific Gas & Electric <br />Company. The councilmen generally were in favor of Attorney Nilson <br />looking into the contract before it was:Aigned by the Mayor and the <br />Clerk. <br />July lst-- Ashton Britten: The report as submitted by Mr. Britten was entirely <br />.satisfactory. Mr. Britten was present at the meeting and was called <br />upon for a few remarks. He advised the Council that he intended <br />to cut off the incubator sometime in August as an experiment and thus <br />be able to ascertain more accurately the benefits to be derived from <br />having it in operation: He promised to advise the Council of the shut <br />off period and asked that some public notice be given with regards to <br />same so that there would be no local comment as to his work. <br />Fire Chief Letham was present at the meeting and was called upon for remarks <br />by Mayor Orloff. He asked that his recommend?ations given in the last two monthly <br />reports be given due consideration. He advised also that the Farm Bureau was <br />working to get a new chassis for the fire patrol and that a benefit card party <br />would be given during the month of July. Councilman Madsen questioned Mr. Letham <br />with regards to who would own the chassis providing it was secured.
