<br />The following reports of committees were then submitted:
<br />Councilman Madsen of the Public Utilities Committee, reported that the affairs
<br />bfi his department were progressing aloni satisfactorilly.,Councilman Amaral questioned
<br />him in regards the work at the Bewer Farm and he reported that four or five tests had
<br />been taken the past month and '.he work being carried on by fir. Brittenafas accomp-
<br />lishing considerable. Mr. 1a.dsen reported that some industrial waste was still
<br />apparent but no special trouble was•being anticpated presently.
<br />Councilman Amaral, of the Laws and Judicary Committee, reported to the Council
<br />theif Monte Macer mas acting as Nightwatchman in place of Joe Leitch, who was taking
<br />his - 'annual vacation(two weeks).• He then•presented a new ordinance which the Clerk
<br />was ordered to read. Same concerned:

<br />UOBILE, MOTORCYCLE, OR OTHER VEHICLE WHILE THE SAME IS ON ANY SUCH
<br />PUBLIC HIGHWAY, ROAD, STREET, SIDE1,!rALK, LAME; ALLEY, PUBLIC GROUNDS,
<br />,PUBLIC PLACE, OR PLACE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, AIM PROHIBITT,_NG ANY PER-
<br />SON BEING IN AN INTOXICA'T'ED OR. DRUNI0PN CONDITION TO THE, AN? OYANCE&

<br />and providing a penalty of not more than $300.00 by imprisonment for not more
<br />than three (3) months,, or by both such as fine and emprisonment: Mr., Amaral
<br />made a few explanatory remarks as regards the ordinance. The ordinance was
<br />laid over until the August meeting for a second reading and final passage.
<br />Acting Mayor Rivolta questioned City Attorney Nilson concerning certain
<br />intoxication violations etc. Mr. Nilson reported on present ordinance and
<br />effecting intoxicated parties and he explained the ordinance as prepared.
<br />Councilman Olesen, of the Street and Building Committee,had no
<br />special report to present.
<br />Acting Mayor Rivolta brought to the attention of the Council the dondition
<br />of,the Southern Pacific crossing at south Main Street. He directed that the,,
<br />daripany be instructed to fix it at an early date. the matter was referred to Super -
<br />urntendent of Streets M., M. Rodrigues to look into.
<br />Under Old and Unfinished Business acting Mayor Rivolta brought ;Vp the dis-
<br />posing of some old fire equipment as junk to Joe M. Rose Jr. and which had not
<br />been paid for to date by Mr. Rose. The Clerk was instructed to contact Mr-. Rose
<br />regarding same and to endeavor to collect the account.
<br />Mr. Rivolta discussed complaints heard in regards the drinking fountain in
<br />front of the City -Hall. It was ordered that same should be improved. He also
<br />brought up the matter of- cleaning up and burning the grass on some of the vacant
<br />lots in town. The matter was referred to the Fire Chief for attention.
<br />The following resolutions were then presented:
<br />Resolution No. 1618: -- Authorizing the payment of the salaries of the municipal
<br />officers for the month of June and amounting to $770.00- The resolution was
<br />adopted on motion of Councilman Madsen, seconded by Councilman Amaral, and with
<br />all of the councilmen present in favor of same.
<br />Resolution No.'1619: -- Authorizing the Clerk :to.draw a warrant on the Town of
<br />Pleasanton in -favor of T'.'H.. Silver, Treasurer for the sum of Five Hundred
<br />and fifty dollars ($550.00) in payment of Water Bond ($500.00) and interest 0:0.00)
<br />The resolution was adopted on motion of Councilman h1adsen, seconded by Council-
<br />man Ole,sen, with all the councilmen present in,favor of same.
<br />The annual report of the financial transactions of the Tot;n of Pleasanton
<br />for the year ending June 30, 1,937 was presented by the Clerk -with individual
<br />copies being given each of the coucilmen present. A discussion of the report was
<br />laid over until the August meeting in order to permit the councilmen to give same thei -r
<br />attention.
<br />T: H. Silver made some comments to the Council in regards ,a school matter and
<br />the district tax rate.
<br />The Clerk discussed picnics 6ing held at McKinley Park and it was ordered that
<br />all reservations for the use of the park be listed with his office.
<br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 9 :30 ofclock
<br />in regular session Monday evening August 2nd, 1937 at,8 'clock.
