The Claims were referred to the finance committee for audit and report. The <br />Clerk then presented the following reports of the municipal officers: <br />i 621 1. <br />Water Department: -- Showing that water had been turned on at 2. places and off at 4 places. <br />The report showed that the engineer repaired 7 meters and repaired leak on Main Street. <br />The report also showed that there were 425 taps in town and 38 outside of town. 'There <br />were 496 services in town (On 448, Off 48, and 42 services outside of town (On 37, Off 5) <br />or a total of 538 services. The expenses of the department amounted to $597.58 and the <br />income $7$1.35, leaving a total over and above expenses $183.77. The total hours pumping <br />196 and the total gallons of water pumped 5,880,000. <br />Town Clerk- -The report showed that he had delivered 5 licenses for collection amounting <br />to 68400 and 460 water bills for collection amounting to 41000.15. The balance cash <br />on hand per last report amounted to $99521.81. Amounts since collecteda Licenses from <br />Marshal $240.00, taxes from Marshal CP58.57, interest on past due taxes $7.44 water bills. <br />from marshal $805.20, water sold Alameda County $2.65, milk inspection fees 36.38, <br />fees from Recorder's court $65.00. From 'Town Clerk: special collection $8.25, personal <br />property taxes $73.22, County of Alameda, solvent credits and intangible assets for <br />1935 $2.52, State of California, apportionment motor vehicle license fee $624.829 making <br />a total of $11,4445.86, less amount of warrants issued May 39 19379 $2,079.99, leaving <br />a cash balance in the hands of the Treasurer of 499365.87. This was divided as follows: <br />General Fund $8032.05; mater Bond Fund $'J6P.99; City Hall -bond fund $13.47•; 1929 <br />Municipal Improvement Bond FunCiV68` Municipal Improvement Bond Fund $186.18. <br />Superintendent of.Streets: -- Showing that work on the streete,during the month of May <br />amounted to $118.06. <br />Town Marshal: -- Showing that lie received 460 water bills from the Clerk amountirg to <br />1000.15. He collected water bills in the amount of $805.10 and returned water bills <br />in the amount of $195.05. He also collected 18 licenses as follows: 13 licenses 9 <br />$12.00- 4156.001 4 licenses @1$16.00- 464.009 and 1 license @ $20.00 -- $20.00. He <br />also collected milk inspection fees in the amount of $36.38 and taxes in the amount <br />of $58.57 and interest on taxes amounting to $7.44. <br />Treasurer: -- Showing that the ,'pater Deposit r'und had $78.50 on hand per last report and <br />since then $2.50 had been collected making a total of $81.009 less $4.00 paid out, <br />leaving $77.00 in th Water Deposit Fund. There was $15.99 in the Water Surplus Fund. <br />No receipts or warrants issued during the month. The Uurb and Gutter Project Fund <br />had $466.29 on hand per last report. $150.24 had been collected during the month, <br />making a total of $616.53 in the Curb and Gutter Project Fund. The Treasurer lad on <br />hand in the General Fund per last report $9521.81. Amounts collected during the <br />month $1924.05, making a total of $119445.86, less amount of warrants issued $2079.99, <br />leaving $9365.87 in the hands 'of the Treasurer. <br />City Judge:- -The report showed that $65.00 had been collected in fines during the month <br />of May. <br />Health Officer: -- Showing report of activities during the month of May, 1937• <br />Fire Chief: -- Showing report of activities during the month of May, 1937• <br />Milk Ins ector : -- Showing laboratory report of milk samples for May, 1937• <br />Ashton Britten: -- Showing laboratory report at the sewer farm during the month of May,1937 <br />Building Inspector : -- Showing that two building permits had been issued during the month <br />of May, 1937• <br />The reports were referred to the finance committee for audit and report. <br />The following communications were then read: <br />ITay 7tho.--Senator William F. Knowland, advising,that he was "pleased to have the views <br />of the City Council of Pleasanton regarding certain legislation pending at Sacramento," <br />and assuring the City Clerk that the bills pending would receive careful consideration <br />prior to their being acted upon by the Senate. <br />May 8th: -- Standard Uheese Corporation of Pleasanton, acknowledging letter of May 4th <br />from the City Clerk and stating that they "are not and have not been using the city <br />system for the disposal of cheese whey," and advising that the Western Condensing <br />Company of Gustine "has installed tank, pump and other equipment necessary to pump the <br />whey into their tanksg" and further advising that they take away-from the plant between <br />10,000 and 15,000 pounds of cheese whey every other day. The corporation was willing <br />to allow the town to verify same either by contacting the Western Condensing Company <br />-at Gustine or calling at its local office where the delivery tags of the Western <br />Condensing Company might be inspected. <br />A recess followed during which the finance commitee examined Claims No. 473 to <br />516 inclusive and amounting to $1094.31. After the meeting had been called to order <br />again, Councilman Madsen, acting as chairman of the finance committee, reported that <br />the committee had examined and approved the claims'and made'a motion to the effect <br />that they be .paid. His motion was seconded by Uouncilman Olesen. The Councilmen all <br />voted in favor'of the payment of the claims with the exception that councilman Amaral <br />did not sign Claim No. 504 concerning improvements to the Justice Court to which he <br />had previously objected. Otherwise, he was willing that the balance -of the claims <br />should be paid. Councilman Madsen reported that the officers monthly reports were <br />accepted and he moved that they be placed-on file. <br />
