120J <br />A recess followed during which the finance committee examined.C.laims No. 384 <br />to 432 inclusive and amounting to 41368.79. After the meeting had beenccalled to order <br />again, Councilman Rivolta of the finance committee reported than the committee had <br />examined and approved the claims and made a motion to the'. effect that they be paid. <br />His motion was seconded by Councilman Madsen and with all the Councilmen in favor of <br />same., Councilman Rivolta also reported that the officers monthly reports were accepted <br />and moved that they be, placed on file. <br />Action on the communication was then taken as follows: <br />March 23, Charles A. Gale. The General Liability policy had been taken care of by Mr. <br />Gale, and the policy had been received for the office files. As regards the <br />bonds for Town Clerk and Town Treasurer, same was in order. <br />Councilman Madsen of the Public Utilities committee had nothing in particular <br />to report. <br />Councilman Amaral of the Laws and Judiciary Committee brought up the matter of <br />e sp ecial police officer to handle traffic etc. and also to co- operate with the Chief <br />Of Yol.ice, -as regards certain hours when no regular of ficer was on duty, especially <br />between 5 and 8 o'clock in the morning. Councilman Amaral stated that,an extra officer <br />might be used in addition to these hours and up to one o'clock in the afternoon and <br />for such other work for which he might be needed. He drew attention to increased. <br />revenue received from the State and,from fines which would take care of the situation. <br />The proposition as outlined by.Councilman Amaral was not-very clear in the minds of <br />the Oouncilmdn and accordingly a discussion followed. At its conclusion, Councilman <br />Rivolta suggested that more thought be given to the matter, that it be more fully <br />developed and a proposition presented to the Council which would reflect the whole <br />situation more clearly. Accordingly, same was ordered laid over until the next meeting. <br />Councilman Rivolta of the Finance Committee had nothing in particular to report <br />other than the monthly bank balance was a.-little larger than usual. He also reported <br />'that he anticipated. the °expenditures would'be a little larger than usual, on account <br />of bonds and interest due etc. <br />Councilman Olesen of the Street and Building Committee reported on the tree <br />situation, drawing attention to those trees which had been removed and others which <br />had been planted. He also advised that the firm removing the walnut trees was still <br />at its work and some little time would be required to complete same. He also brought <br />up the matter that Mr. Fadie had intended to appear before the Council or present <br />another request with reference to the tree to be removed from in front of his place. <br />Since neither request had been presented nothing further was done about the matter - <br />except that Mr. Madsen advised that if Mr. Fadie wished to remove the tree that he <br />should be allowed to do so. Councilman Olesen also advised that the First National <br />Bank intended to remove the tree from in front of the bank and about which permission <br />had been officially given sometime ago. Councilman Olesen brought up the matter of the <br />gutter in f ont of the bank and suggested that same be fixed from the corner of Spiting <br />Street Hagstrom's store as far sec north and including the Chapius Building. <br />He made certain suggestions with regards to this improvement which would assist materially <br />in draining the water off more readily. Permis $ion was given Mr. Olesen to proceed with <br />the work and see what could be done. As regards the Southern Pacific matter, Councilman <br />Olesen queried Mr. Nilson as to what had been done. Mr. Nilson advised that he was <br />awaiting word from the Southern Pacific Company with reference to a proposed agreement <br />which he had expected would be received in order to be submitted at the meeting but which <br />did not come. <br />The Clerk presented a Rate Advisory Service from the Pacific Gas & Electric <br />Company in.which it was shown that the cost of lights etc. at the City Hall had anounted <br />to 146.52 for a one -year period under special Schedule .04- whereas if same had been <br />billed under Schedule L -14 the cost would have been $144.93 or a saving of $1.59. The <br />matt'r was referred to Councilman Rivolta. <br />The following resolutions were then presented: <br />Resolution 1608 -- Authorizing the Ta yment of the salaries of the municipal officers for the <br />month of March and amounting to $770.00. The resolution was adopted on <br />motion of Councilman Madsen, seconded by Councilman Olsen, and with all <br />the Councilmen in favor of same. <br />Resolution 1609 -- Authorizing and instructing the _Cle.rk to borrow from the General Fund <br />and transfer to the Municipal Improvement r3ond Eund and the 1929 <br />` Municipal Improvement Bond Fund the following: To the Municipal Improve- <br />ment Bond Fund $234.27 and to the the 1929 Municipal Improvement Bond <br />Fund $311.71. This resolution was adopted on motion of Councilman <br />Madsen, seconded by Councilman Amaral and with all the Councilmen in <br />favor of same. <br />Resolution 1610 -- Authorizing and instructing the Clerk to draw a warrant on the Town <br />Treasurer in favor of T.H.Silver, for the sum of Three Thousand Fifteen <br />and no/100 dollars in payment of Municipal Bonds and Interest. This <br />resolution was adopted on motion of Councilman Madsen, seconded by <br />Councilman Olesen and with all the Councilmen in favor of same. <br />Resolution 1611 -- Authorizing and directing the Clerk to cancel License No. 67- -Steve <br />Adamian, dated April 1, 1936 - $12.00 on account of being unable to <br />collect same and Mr. Adamian having passed away of recent months. This <br />resolution was adopted- on motion of Councilman Amaral, seconded by Council- <br />man Olsen, and with all the Councilman in favor of same. <br />
