The Clerk advised the Council that the tax rate would be set next Monday evening, <br />September 14 at 8 o'clock and asked that consideration be given in no"t'.making a <br />change in same. - <br />Resolution No. 15 ?6, authorizing the payment of the salaries of the municipal <br />officers amounting to 7_70.00 was then presented.. On motion of Councilman Olesen, <br />seconded by Councilman Madsen and with all the councilmen in favor of same the <br />resolution was adopted. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 9 :55 o'clock to <br />meet in regular session, Monday evening, .Qetober 5, at 7:30 o'clock. <br />Approved: Clerk <br />yor <br />Pleasanton, California, September 14, 1936. <br />The Town Council of the Town of Pleasanton was called to order on the above <br />written date at 8 o'clock, by Mayor Thos. Orloff. Present at roll call were: <br />Councilmen Madsen,•Amaral, Olesen and Orloff. Councilman Rivolta was absent. <br />The Mayor stated that the meeting had been called for the purpose of setting <br />the tax rate for the fiscal-year 1936 -37. after a short discussion on the matter <br />it was decided to allow the rate of $$1.40 to remain. Accordingly Resolution No. <br />1597 was then presented. On motion of Councilman Madsen, seconded by Councilman <br />Olesen and with all the Councilmen present in favor of same, the resolution was <br />adopted. The resolution was as follows: <br />"Whereas the ordinances of the Town of Pleasanton in accordance -with the State <br />Law, require that the Town of Pleasanton meet on the second Monday of September and <br />at that time fix the rate for town taxes, designating the number of cents on each <br />one hundred dollars of assessed valuation levied for each fund and must then levy the <br />town taxes upon the taxable property in town;" <br />"TOW THEREFORE" ; be it resolved by the Town Council of Pleasanton, in session on <br />the evening of September 14, 1936, do hereby fix and declare the rate for taxes for <br />the various funds of the gown of Pleasanton for the year 1936 -37 as follows:" <br />"The sum of Seventy -six cents (76�) on each one hundred dollars of assessed <br />valuation to be levied against all taxable -property in the Town of Pleasanton, to be <br />placed in the general fund;" <br />"The sum of Nine (9�) cents on each one hundred dollars of assessed valuation to <br />be levied against all taxable property in the Town of Pleasanton, to be placed in the <br />Mater Bond Redemption rund;" <br />"The sum of Twenty -one (211 cents on each one hundred dollars of assessed valuation <br />to be levied against all taxable property in the Town of Pleasanton to be placed in the <br />Municipal improvement Bond Redemption Fund;" <br />"The sum of Thirty -four cents (34V) 6n each one. hundred dollars of assessed <br />valuation to be levied against all taxable property in the Town of Pleasanton to be <br />placed in the 1929 Municipal Improvement Bond Fund" t�J <br />"Making a total. tax rate for the Town of Pleasanton of One`Y +Dollar and Forty cents <br />($1.40) on each one hundred dollars of assessed valuation of all' 'taxable property." <br />"And be it further resolved that the tax collector 'be and he" Is "`hereby empowered <br />and directed to collect taxes for the�'Town of Pleasanton at,the rate's set forth herein <br />and in the manner and at the times provided .,by•'.'.law." <br />The Clerk presented an application from the American Legion Auxiliary for a dance <br />permit for October 24th at the Veterans Memorial Building.�and signed by Mrs. Irene <br />Stevenson as chairman of the committee. There being no ol$.YJections to same thepermit <br />was granted. <br />Councilman Olesen advised that the Western Pacific Railroad Company was anxious <br />to disconnect the bell ringing at the St. Mary's Street and S;t..John's Street crossing <br />between the hours 8 to 12 and 1 to, 5 and stationing a�man witri a flag at the crossing <br />during the noon hour. After some: discussion -.among the Council it was decided that <br />there would be no objections to disconnecting the bell- providiAg_wamling signs were <br />placed on the various streets drawing attention to the traffic; that the warning sign <br />was out of order.
