On motion of Councilman Olesen, seconded by Councilman <br />Rivolta and with all the Councilmen in favor of same, it was ordered that if Ur. <br />Mancini's. services were needed that -Mr. Nilson should procure them. <br />Councilman Madsen of the Public.Utilities committee reported success. <br />Councilman Amaral of the Laws and Judiciary committee -had nothing in particular <br />to repo -rt.. <br />Councilman Olesen of the Street and Building committee brought to the attention <br />of the douncil a request from -Joe Macer who had taken -down the lacer dwelling on <br />lower Main Street and who was anxious to replace the home with a modern frame dwelling <br />with stucco finish. Mr. Olesen asked that allowance be made and that he be permited <br />to construct . this frame,dwelling. After a short discussion, on motion of Councilman <br />Olesen seconded by Councilman Amaral and with all in favor of same it was ordered <br />that the Building Inspector.be instructed to give a permit to Mr. Macer., <br />Andrew Jorgensen in company with a delegation from the Junior Chamber of <br />Commerce addressed the council with reference to placing a neon sign 11 feet, 9. <br />inches in a Conspicuous place and at a location yet to be decided and which would <br />direct traffic into Pleasanton. He asked that the maintenance be taken care of <br />by the Town and also that the electricity would cost about 5,e an hour. There-was <br />a discussion among the Council after which the Clerk recommended that an advertising <br />fund of w$150.00 be established to take care of such lighting if the Council should <br />decide to accept the sign. After a further discussion the matter was laid over <br />until a future meeting for a discussion. <br />Resolution 1595 -was presented, authorizing the payment of,the salaries of <br />of the municipal officers for the month of July amounting to 9040.- On motion of <br />Councilman Madsen, seconded by Councilman Amaral and with all the Councilmen in favor <br />of same the resolution was adopted. <br />Fire Chief Letham gave a very interesting report on the convention that he <br />had attended in the northwest recently. <br />There being no further business the meeting djourned t 101-15 o'clock to <br />meet in regular session, Tuesday evening, Sep tem r Bth t 'clock. <br />Approved: City Clerk <br />Pleasanton, California, August 10, 1936. <br />The Town Council of the Town of Pleasanton met at 8 o'clock on the above written <br />date with Mayor Thos. Orloff presiding. Present at roll call were:' Councilmen Madsen, <br />Amaral, Rivolta, Olesen and Orloff. <br />The Clerk then explained that the Council should organize as a Board of Equalization <br />and remain in. session one -half hour at which any complaints from property owners as <br />regards assessments might be heard. Also that if this session was not sufficient to <br />hear all comp1bints from the property ownes that the Counci should continue its <br />meetings at 8 o'clock during such succeeding evenings as might be required. On motion <br />of Councilman Madsen, seconded by Councilman Olesen and with all present in favor of <br />same Mayor Orloff was chosen as chairman of the Board of Equalization. The required <br />time for the Board to remain in session was fulfilled during which no complaiAB were <br />received either in person or writing. <br />The Council considered a request from the Yiesta'Del Vino committee and ra de by <br />Andrew L. Jorgensen and Peter Christesen# with regards to not charging any liceneses <br />for concessions to be operated during the coming Fiesta. •It was pointed out that <br />the Association had been able to secure a very fine concession company to take care of <br />part of the work and that the company was willing to pay to the Association a certain <br />fee together-with a percentage, this money to be. used toward the furtherance of the <br />coming Fiesta.
