The following .communications were then reads <br />1185 <br />July 10th - -Mrs. D.B. Chace, and William B. Chace, thanking the City Council for their <br />sympathy and floral - offering. <br />July 10th - -Dr. H.J. Shanks, appl- icat,on for appointment as City Health Officer. <br />July 20th--Alameda County Health Department, I.O. Church, Health Officer, in re: <br />Contract with Alameda County Health Department with regards to County <br />Ordinance No. 250. , <br />July JJth -- Division of Highways, advising that there is $5110.00 available for <br />expenditure on city streets in the + +own of Pleasanton as follows% <br />State Highways $3435.68, City Streets $19675403, and also sincei -- there <br />-- is no State highway through the Town, the above amount is available <br />for expenditure in the Town on Streets of Major Importance. <br />August 1, -- Edward Silveria, placing a bid of .$50.00 as the. annual audit of the <br />Town books. <br />A recess followed during which the finance committee examined Claims No. 63 <br />to t4f.9V amounting to $634.23 and slopewall Claim No. 60 amounting to $21015. <br />After the meeting had been clalled to order again, Councilman Rivolta of the <br />finance committee reported that the committee had examined and approved the claims <br />and made a motion to the effect that /they be paid: His motion was seconded by <br />Councilman Madsen and with all the councilmen in favor of same. Councilman Rivolta <br />also reported that the officers' monthly reports were accepted and moved that <br />they be placed on file. <br />Action on the communications were then taken as follows: <br />July 10th - -Mrs. D.B. Chace and William B. Chace. Filed. <br />July 10th - -Dr. H.J. Shanks. On motion of Councilman Amaral, seconded by Councilman <br />Madsen and with all in favor of same, Dr. Shanks was appointed Health <br />Officer and to serve at..the pleasure of the Council. <br />July 15th- . -Division of Highways. A discussion followed with reference to the <br />communication and the amount of money available at this time. While <br />the-Council had an expression from the Division, nevertheless, it was <br />particularly anxious to-know exactly when the total amount of.toney <br />was available. As regards work to be done from money in the Fund there <br />was no action taken and the matter was laid over. The Clerk was instructed <br />to go into the matter with Mr. Mancini and also to contact Sir. Mattoe <br />of the Division of Highway with reference to same. <br />July 29th: -A discussion followed relative to the matter and the Clerk advised th at <br />he was willing to discuss same both with Dr. Black and Dr. Church and to <br />bring to the Board some definite information after which the Council <br />would consider same and then,at a later date if necessary meet with <br />Dr. 'Church. <br />August 1st -- Edward Silveria.On motion of Councilman Olesen seconded by Councilman <br />Amaral and with all in favor of same, Edward Silveria was selected to <br />make the audit of the municipal books and for which he was to receive <br />$50.00. <br />An application for -a dance permit was received from the Parish Social Club <br />and signed by Cyril Bairos to which was attached the usual fee. There beng�lno <br />objections to same the permit was granted. <br />The annual financial report of the Town of Pleasanton as submitted by the <br />City Clerk at the July 6th meeting was officially, accepted on recommendation of <br />Councilman Rivolta, whose motion was seconded by Counci.1man Xadsea and-with <br />all the Councilmen in favor of same. Mayor Orloff eo:mmentedn.6n, ,-the full <br />report which which the Clerk had submitted and to the effect that all departments <br />were carefully itemized so that the Council would have a full knowledge of the <br />receipts and expenditures of the municipality. <br />The Clerk advised that the assessment roll of the--Town of Pleasanton for <br />:y:...- the year 1936 -37 had been completed and was Nuilable. Same was accepted by <br />the municipality and arrangements were madeJor the Council to meet as a <br />Board of Hqualization on Monday evening, August 10th at the usual hour and to <br />sit as same for such evenings as would =be. iequired. <br />City Treasurer Silver advised the Council that the "Active Vundn of the <br />municipality was about exhausted and that it would be necessary to transfer <br />money from the 'Inactive Fund, "which was at interest. He further advised that <br />about $1000.00 would be transferred. <br />The matter of dates at McKinley Park for barbecues was brought up and the <br />following requests were granted: Pleasanton Junior Chamber of Commerce, August <br />12th, Lions Club, august•20th, Masonic Club, September 1st. <br />Attorney Nilson brought to the attention of the Council the matter of the <br />Railroad Commission hearing on the Neal Street crossing. He advised that the <br />Southern Pacific Company had cost estimates made and that the town will have to <br />do the same unless the Railroad company's estimates were accepted. He further <br />advised that the work of fixing the crossing would probably cost about 63000.00. <br />He further advised that it might be necessary to secure the'services of Mr. <br />0 <br />
