Pleasanton,California, April 20, 1936.
<br />The constitutional oath of office to City Clerk, Ernest W. Schween was Ulm
<br />administered by Judge Charles A. Gale. The newly elected councilmen were then
<br />sworn into office by Clerk, Ernest W.' Schween. Before calling the meeting together,
<br />the Clerk as acting chairman of the Council, thanked the retiring officers for
<br />their work during their respective terms. The acting chairman then announced that
<br />the first order of business was the selection of a Mayor. Councilman John J.
<br />Amaral made a motion to the effect that Councilman Thos. Orloff be selected as
<br />Mayor. The motion was seconded by Councilman Olesen and with all the Councilmen
<br />in favor of same. Thate being no further nominations Councilman Orloff was declared
<br />Mayor. The Clerk then presented Mayor Orloff,who had accepted the nomination.
<br />The new Mayor made a few remarks appropriate to the occasion and he was followed
<br />by Councilman Rivolta, Madsen, and City Clerk, Ernest W. Schween. Others who
<br />made a few remarks were Judge Charles A. Gale, P. Christesen, Andrew Jorgensen,
<br />and William F. Hall. Their remarks were in compliment to the Council for their
<br />activities in behalf of the Town of Pleasanton.
<br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned to meet.-in regular
<br />session, Monday evening, May 4th at 8 o'clock.

<br />The Town Council of the Town of Pleasanton was called to order in special
<br />session on the above written date with Mayor Thos. Orloff presiding. Present at
<br />roll call were: Councilmen Madsen, Rivolta, Amaral, Olesen and Orloff.
<br />The mayor stated that the Council had been called in special session to
<br />consider a resolution with regards•the Alameda County Fair.and Racing Association
<br />and its proposal to present fairs, expositions etc. at the Pleasanton Training Park
<br />and also its intention to file an application with the California Horse Racing
<br />Board for a permit to conduct a racing meet in conjunction with the County Fair
<br />on said property during the month of August, 1936. The resolution was presented
<br />by Mr. J.B.Kelly of the group that is sponsoring the organization of the association
<br />and its incorporation. After a short discussion among the Councilmen, the resolution,
<br />Resolution No. 1585, was adopted on motion of Councilman 11- adsen, seconded by Councilman
<br />Amaral and with all the councilmen in favor of same.
