1166 <br />He then called upon the Clerk to discuss the supplemental project which had been <br />set up in connection with the slope wall and also the sidewalk project under <br />consideration. The Clerk advised the Council with reference to a visit to the <br />office of Mr. Lee B. Chase, Supervisor of Projects and Planning in Oakland and to the <br />effect that Mr. Chase was willing to write a supplemental project on the slope wall <br />to take care of additional labor. He also advised that Mr. Chase was willing to <br />prepare a project to take care of .the laying of sidewalks in Pleasanton, this project <br />to be handled the same as the curb and gutter project. He advised that Mr. Sinclair <br />had gone over the project thoroughly and that he estimated that the 'cork could <br />be put in at 7T,e per foot. He concluded by advising that the project had been written <br />in the Oakland office and was on hand in his office for signing in case. the Council <br />wished to act upon it. A short discussion followed among the Councilman and at is <br />conclusion, on motion of Councilman Amaral, seconded by Councilman Olesen and with <br />all the Councilmen in favor of same, the Mayor and the Clerk were instructed to <br />sign the project for the Town of Pleasanton. Councilman Olesen reported that complaints <br />had come in with reference to the Western Pacific crossing on-St. John's Street and <br />he again brought up the matter of the drainage problem on Division Street. The Clerk. <br />was instructed to take the matter up with the Western Pacific Railroad Company and <br />ask• that some action be taken to improve conditions. <br />Mr. Rodrigues brought to the attention of the Council the condition of the grader, <br />reporting that two cylinder heads were cracked and that repairs were needed. He made <br />suggestions with reference to securing the necessary parts from wrecking companies in <br />that business. After a discussion among the Councilman, he was instructed to secure <br />prices for putting the equipment in condition. <br />Fire Chief Letham was present to thank the Council for fixing up the fire truck <br />and he advised that the work done had placed the truck in good condition and that <br />better results would follow. <br />City Attorney Nilson and C1erk,Schween advised the Council with regards to the <br />Deeds prepared concerning the Lewis •property and the Richards property as regards <br />the slope wall project. The Clerk stated that some difficulty had been experienced <br />with regards to Tarr. Richards signing and accordingly he bad not contacted Mrs. <br />Lewis. Mr. Nilson advised that he would be willing to take the matter up with Mr. <br />Richards at his (Ni.lson's)office, in an effort to get the matter cleared up. It was <br />ordered that both Mr. Nilson and Mr. Schween endeavor to have these deeds signed this <br />week and that the Council meet in adjourned session next Monday,February 10th to consider <br />same and the resolutions which would have to be passed in connection with the accepting <br />of these deeds. <br />Karl Bieler appeared before the Council and introduced Peter Burnett who is planning <br />to buy his business at the Swiss Poolroom and he advised the Council that he intended <br />toopen up the Farmers Hotel as hotel and restaurant. He queried the Council with <br />reference to licenses which he had and which Mr. Burnett would have to have and also <br />with regards to licenses at the Farmers Hotel. Following a short discussion among <br />the Councilmen there was no objection to the respective licenses being issued providing <br />both persons would conduct their respective businesses properly. Councilman Ai:iaral <br />advised the Council that he did not have any objection to the licenses being issued <br />and advised the Council that at the present time, the District Attorney's of'f'ice was <br />investigating all places were beer and wine and liquor were disposed of and that lie <br />was making certain recommendations to the State Board of Equalization. <br />The.Clerk <br />presented the lighting contract of the Pacific Gas Sc Electric Company <br />for a two year period. Discussion followed among the Councilman with reference to <br />same and some objections were raised. However, no action was taken and the contract <br />was laid on the table for another meeting and further discussion. <br />The following resolutions were then presented: <br />Resolution No. 1574 -- Authorizing the payment of the salaries of the municipal <br />officers and amounting to $745.00. <br />1575--Authorizing the payment of $12.00 to Frank Lewis for rent of <br />property on Vineyard Avenue from Uranuary 1, 1936 to Dec. 31, 1936, for <br />the disposal of rubbish. . I <br />Action on the communications taken as follows: <br />Resolution No. 1574 - Adopted -on motion of Councilman Olesen, seconded by Councilman <br />Amaral and with all the Councilmen in favor of same. <br />" <br />to to No.1575 -- Adopted on motion of Councilman Madsen, seconded by Councilman <br />Olesen and with all the Councilmen in favor of same. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned t 9:30 to meet::n adjourned <br />session, Monday evening, February 10th at 7 :30./] <br />Approved: <br />or <br />Clerk <br />
