X161 <br />The following communications were then read: <br />December -�1, 19 6; League of California Municipalities advising with regards to <br />revised schedule of service charges for memberships for the year 1936 and advising <br />that the Pleasanton fee would be $45.00. <br />January 10, 1916: East nay Regional League of the League of California Municipalities <br />concerning dinner and meeting on February 7th in Berkely. <br />January 11, 193 6:-- Dixwell L. Pierce, Secretary of the State Board of Equalization <br />in reference to letter of December 26th and advising of analysis of figures submitted <br />by E.W.Schween, Clerk of the Town of Pleasanton, showing that the Town of Pleasanton <br />may expend during the current fiscal year a total of $t-12,885.45 out of tax funds <br />raised without special authorization from the State Board of Equalization. <br />January 22nd, 1916: Philip Johnson of the Pleasanton Junior Chamber of Commerce <br />asking permission to stage some boxing and wrestling matches at the Forester's Hall, <br />on February 6tt. <br />January 24. 136: Division o f Highways,State of California, advising that <br />Pleasanton will be.allowed $710.00 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1936 and <br />$935.00 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1937 for use of streets of major <br />importance and $1,870.00 for the bienium 1935-37 on state highways within the <br />city limits, these moneys to be available from the one - quarter cent gas tax <br />allocation. <br />January 29, 1916: League of California Municipalities advising the City Council <br />against taking any action at this time on the proposed initiative measure sponsored <br />by the local Option League, which measure is intended to put the licensing and <br />regulation of 'Wholesale and Retail liquor business in the hands of local officials. <br />February 1, 196: Ashton Britten, submitting analysis taken at the sewer farm <br />during the month of January... <br />Febrva.ry 1. 196: R.D.Shafer,.asking permission to remove locust trees in front <br />of his residence at 412 First Street. ° <br />A recess followed during which the finance comm 1"10- ittee examined Claims 320 <br />to 374 and including Claim No. 295 and amounting to $1968.49. After the meeting had <br />been called. to order again, Councilman Rivolta• of the finance cormnittee' reported that <br />the cominittee had examined and approved the claims and made a motion to 'the effect <br />that all claims be paid. His motion was seconded by Councilman Madsen; Councilman <br />Rivolta also reported that the officers' monthly reports were accepted and moved <br />that they be placed on file. <br />Action on the communications were then taken as follows: <br />December 31, 1936: League of California Municipalities. Shafer <br />that he might remove the locust trees in question, providing he <br />would plant other trees as per his communication. <br />Councilman Rivolta reported to th`e Council that he had disposed of the tanks with <br />certain connections from the discarded'fire truck to Mr. Joe M. Rose Jr. He also <br />advised that IJ1r. Rose was interested in purchasing any hose that the Department might <br />discard and that the matter had been referred to the Fire Department. Councilman <br />Rivolta further reported that 1-dr. Rose would settle for his purchases at an early <br />date. <br />Councilman Madsen of the Public Utilities Committee reported tint the bill from <br />the Justinian Caire Company for supplies at the Sewer Farm concerned supplies due iur. <br />Britten to take care of breakage prior to arrangements made with him in January <br />as regards his work at the sewer farm. Councilman Madsen also advised that there were <br />a few other articles which had to be replaced and which he would take care of in <br />the future. He further advised that he intended to plant Borne trees at the sewer <br />farm,replacing those that had been destroyed or had died. <br />Councilman Amaral of the Laws and Judiciary Committee had nothing in particular <br />to report other than to request permission to secure some special officer badges <br />which were needed at this time. The necessary permission was granted. <br />Councilman Olesen of the Street and Building Committee reported that the <br />curb and gutter project had been completed and that of late months 5342 feet together <br />with 60 drivewyas had been installed. Councilman Olesen also reported that within <br />the past week 40 trees had been set out on various streets in the municipality. <br />He further reported that the slope wall project was <br />J progressing with satisfacGtion. <br />I <br />
