1154 <br />Pleasanton, California, November 29, 1935- <br />The Town Council of the Town of Pleasanton was called to order in special <br />session at 7:30 P -M- on the above written date by Mayor Thos. Orloff. Present <br />at roll call were: Councilmen Madsen, Amaral, Olese and Orloff and absent, <br />Councilman Rivolta. <br />The Mayor stated that the meeting had been called with regards to the slope <br />wall project on Division Street and which had been approved by the Works Progress <br />Administration. He called upon the Clerk to give a report as to what had been <br />done since word had been received from the Oakland office that the project had been <br />approved. The Clerk %(en�discu�e�l the matter, outlining what the Administration <br />would be willing to do,91aborers, materialsto be supplied, the date the work was <br />to commence and other details incidental to the project. Discussion then followed <br />among the Councilmen, during which some questions were asked of the Clerk on the <br />project. ' It was decided among the members to have Mr. C. A. Bruce called into the <br />nneeting and to go over the plans.of the slope wall•with him since he was generally <br />favored to look after the supervisory work on the project. Mr. Bruce, sometime later <br />in the meeting, appeared,. went over the preliminary plans as prepared by the Council <br />and he made a few practical suggestions. It was ordered that Mr. Bruce should go <br />to the Oakland office on the following day and check -the plans and specifications <br />at the Works Progress Administration office with Mr. Chace and.Mr. Pipkin, the later <br />having prepared same following a visit to this city on an inspection trip with Mr. <br />Chace. Mr. Bruce was instructed to bring in a report at the meeting on Monday <br />evening, December 2 and the Clerk was instructed to prepare a letter which Mr. <br />Bruce was to take to Mr. Chace, advising that "the Council intended to avail itself <br />of Mr. Bruce's services and also arrangements were pending to start the project <br />without delay. Some discussion followed ,with regards to placing on the project <br />Robin Bruce and Kenneth Cake and the Clerk was - instructed to write letters to <br />the Administration office to the effect that the Council recommended their being <br />considered for work. The Clerk advised in connection with the above, that he had <br />advice early in the month to the affect that persons not on relief prior to <br />November 1st would not be given work in the future unless some special ruling was <br />made but that he had queried the Oakland office that day, Friday, November 219 <br />with regards to the matter since both Mr. Cake and Mr. Bruce had come in with <br />word that they would be allowed to work on the project. <br />The Clerk advised that requests had been received for the use of the City <br />Hall assembly room on Thursday, December 5th for a meeting of the Townsend Club <br />and on Wednesday evening, December 18th for the Sportsmen Club. The permission <br />was granted and the Clerk was instructed to notify the respective parties. <br />The Clerk also advised that he had contacted Attorney Nilson with regards to a <br />resolution for the setting up of funds to take care of the one - quarter cent gas tax <br />allocation, said fund to be used on secondary streets. The Clerk also advised <br />that Mr. Nelson of the Division of Highways had called upon him with regards to <br />money which might be secured from the gas tax allocation for Pleasanton and which <br />might be used for expenses on the street in advance of putting in the work, viz. <br />engineer's feed -e c. The Clerk stated that Mr. Nelson advised that upon, receipt <br />of the pro j e c t"Al at funds would be set up out of what was due the municipality. <br />It was ordered that the matter be laid over until next spring. <br />Councilman Olesen brought up the matter of putting in sidewalks within the <br />city limits where the property owners were anxious to have them installed <br />and as a 7Y.P.A. project. The Clerk was instructed to inquire into the matter <br />to get facts and figures for presentation to the Council at some future meeting. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 8:30 P.m. to meet <br />in regular session, Illonday evening, Decembe 2, at :3 p.m. <br />Clerk <br />Approve / <br />��. d/ <br />Pleasanton, California, December 2, 1935- <br />The Town Council of the Town of Pleasanton was called to order at 7:30 P.M. on <br />the above written date with Mayor Thos.
