1153 <br />written same to the Oakland office. After some discussion in which advice was <br />asked of the City Attorney as regards the liability incurred, the Clerk was <br />instructed to write the Administration to the effect that the City Council would <br />be unable to furnish gas and oil and that the transportation matter would have <br />to be taken care of through the Oakland office. <br />October 31 "Lee B. Chace. filed <br />November 4- -John A. Mancini. Discussion followed with <br />claim for services and it was ordered that <br />made him at this time on account of the un <br />Mr. Mancini should receive compensation at <br />was entered into and fulfilled. The Clerk <br />him to that effect. <br />regards to Mr. Ma ncini's <br />no allowance would be <br />ierstanding being that <br />the time that the contract <br />was instructed to advise <br />_ November 4-- Ashton Britten. The Clerk read Mr. Britten's letter again together <br />with the itemized account of'his expenditures. After some discussion <br />among the Councilmen on motion of Councilman Madsen, seconded by <br />Councilman Rivolta the claim of 11r. Britten for $24.28 was ordered <br />paid and the Clerk was instructed to draw the necessaryvmrrant. <br />Mr. Britten advised the Council that on October,ll, 14,16,18.and 21 <br />that whey was visible ;in the sewerage disposal and that he felt <br />the Cheese Factory'was again using the sewer system. Some discussion <br />ensued on the matter and it was ordered that Councilman Madsen should <br />look into the matter. Councilman Madsen spoke with regards to the <br />power situation at the sewer farm and directed the attention of the <br />Council to the .charges being made which he felt were excessive. <br />He mentioned that the hook -up at the sewer farm had been arranged at <br />the instance of Mr. Saunders who advised at that 'time that the Council <br />might look for a reduction in power bills. The Clerk was instructed <br />to contact Mr. Saunders advising him of the matter and instruct him <br />to go into same and report to Lair. Madsen. <br />Councilman Amaral advised that nothing further had been heard with regards <br />to the Uliano case and he considered that same should rest. <br />Councilman Madsen had nothing special to report upon. <br />Mayor Orloff suggested that the pump house at the north.entrance to Pleasanton <br />be painted. All of the Councilmen were in favor of same and the matter was <br />referred to Councilman Madsen. <br />Councilman Olesen advised with regards to the _starting of the curb and gutter <br />project'and the taking out of trees on Angela Street. He recommended to the Council <br />that Mr. C.A. Bruce be employed as foreman of the slope wall project should <br />same receive favorable attention. The Council was in favor of same and <br />recommended that the Clerk write to the director in Oakland and advise them <br />regarding the Council's action. At Uouncilman'Olesen's request the Clerk <br />advised with reference to a visit he had made to headquarters in connection <br />with the slope wall project'. <br />Councilman Rivolta brought up the matter of the municipality expending <br />five per cent inexcess of its expenditures of the previous year as per taxes <br />received, and asked that the Clerk give an explanation of same. The Clerk <br />advised with reference to the matter according to the information that he <br />had on hand and also reported on October 10 of an accountant from the State <br />Board of'Equalization. <br />Councilman Olesen spoke with reference to the three sets of plans <br />of St. Marys and Division Street which would be necessary as required by <br />the Division of Highways. He also advised that streets needing attention <br />such as Ray Street and First Street would be shortly looked into. <br />Treasurer Silver advised with reference to a conversation which he had <br />with the Clerk concernining finances of the town and to the effect that both <br />recommended that $2500.00 be set aside in an inactive account to draw interest <br />in the Bank of America. He also advised that$1000.00 had been deposited <br />at the First National Bank. The Treasurer was given permission to set <br />aside the $2500.00 in an inactive account. <br />The following resolutions were then introduced: <br />Resolution 1562 Authorizing the payment of the salaries of the municipal <br />officers and amounting to $745.00. <br />1563 -- Authorizing the -Clerk to draw a warrant on the Town Treasurer <br />in favor of Edward T. Planer, Tax Collector of Alameda County <br />for $25.92 in payment of lst and 2nd installments of taxes <br />due on sewer farm property and camp grounds property. <br />Action on the resolutions were then taken as follows: <br />Resolution 1562 -- Adopted on motion of Councilmen Madsen seconded by Councilman <br />Olesen and with all the Councilmen in favor of same. <br />it " 1563 -- Adopted on motion of Councilman Madsen seconded by Councilman <br />Olesen and with all the councilmen in favor of same. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjour ed at 10 o'clock to meet <br />in regular session, Monday evening, December at 7:30 o'clock. <br />Clerk <br />
