Ow input will be
limited to areas we believe are of most significance to sustaining a strong local economy and the
quality of life enjoyed by all who live and/or work here.
Circu ation•
Being at the juncture off -580 and 1-680 affords Pleasanton many advantages, however it
also brings added pressure to regional and local transportation infrastructure. A fully
integrated transportation network is essential to ensure traffic is not an impediment to
local tirculation, business growth and economic expansion.
RE: Program 1.6 (Goal 2, Policy 1, Program l.6) of the General Plan Update. language that
calls fur yet another new policy/plan to be adopted by the City Council that includes a prioritized
plan for improvements to 1-580,1-680, RTE 84 and requires completion of a regional network
includ ng Dublin Blvd., Jack London and North Canyons Parkway, along with Stoneridge Drive
will only succeed in delaying important circulation projects and leave Pleasanton's fate to
outsid.: agencies; this language should he deleted. Other language that sets up a pmgram inviting
a refer_ndum on the extension of Stoneridge Drive has no place in a planningfpolicy document
and should also be deleted, 12.1
Langu tge calling for agreement to a strategic approach and funding plan for relieving congestion
in the Fri- Valley adequately cnnvcys the intent and need for cooperation (page 3.30), Language
that arpears in the HEIR (page 3.2 -23) should be similarly revised,
Suggested language for Program 1.6,
Provide an emergency vehicle access -way linking Stoneridge Drive to El Charm Road to
senv emergency access needs for development of the Staples Retch site Of and when it
develops) until such time as the full Stoneridge Drive extension (including a four lane
bridge) as shown on the General Plan Map ("the Stoneridge Drive Extension` k
constructed. The timetable for construction of the Stoneridge Drive extension will depend
on Pleasanton reaching an agreement with its regional partners (Le., the cities of
Livermore and Dublin, the County of Alameda) for a strategic approach and funding plan
for relieving traffic congestion in the Tri- Valley.
v.
