6 <br />THE CITY OF <br />-~• ' ° ~'~ "" CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />~L£~S~4NTONz <br />April 21, 2009 <br />Fire Department <br />TITLE: CONSIDER A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE 2009 WEED ABATEMENT <br />PROGRAM AND AUTHORIZING THE ABATEMENT OF WEEDS, <br />RUBBISH, DIRT, OR REFUSE UPON OR IN FRONT OF CERTAIN <br />DESCRIBED PROPERTIES WITHIN THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />SUMMARY <br />On March 17, 2009, as part of the 2009 Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Weed <br />Abatement Program, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 09-272 declaring that <br />weeds, dirt, rubbish and refuse on specified properties constituted a public nuisance, <br />ordering the abatement thereof, and setting a public hearing to hear objections to the <br />proposed abatement. The purpose of this public hearing is for the City Council to hear <br />and consider objections, if any, and order that the weeds be abated by a contractor. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt the attached resolution approving the 2009 Weed Abatement Program and <br />authorizing the abatement of weeds, rubbish, dirt, or refuse upon or in front of certain <br />described properties within the City of Pleasanton. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />The City is fully reimbursed through a special assessment on the property owner's tax <br />bill for abatement and administrative costs. All costs involved with the Weed Abatement <br />Program are budgeted under Account #122-181-3378. <br />
