SUMMARY The City and School District have worked collaboratively over the past 40 years on a number of facilities and programs for the benefit of the two agencies and the community in general. With the current economic climate, each agency is reviewing its obligations for these items to determine whether cost efficiencies can be achieved through partnerships or economies of scale. A brief description of existing joint-use facilities and programs is attached as Exhibit A. BACKGROUND Both organizations are reviewing current operations to identify possible opportunities for the two agencies to work together to provide program enhancement while improving cost efficiencies. This matter continues to be discussed routinely by the PUSDlCity Liaison Committee. Furthermore, management representatives, led by the City Manager and Superintendent, are exploring possible opportunities in further detail. While these opportunities certainly represent an interesting and exciting effort to maximize available resources, each "opportunity area" will have to be carefully assessed to determine cost efficiencies, desired service levels, and meet/confer obligations. Further detail regarding these opportunities will be discussed with the City Council and Board of Trustees over the next several months.
