MINUTES <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />September 2, 2008 <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Mayor Hosterman called the regular meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and Councilmember Cook- <br />Kallio led in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Introductory Comments <br />Councilmember Cook-Kallio announced the following events: The First Wednesday Street <br />Party September 3`~; Brain Matters is a new weekly program offered at the Pleasanton Senior <br />Center each Friday; September 6'" kicks off the 2008 soccer season; Pleasanton Cultural Arts <br />Foundation sponsors the "Firehouse Fling: An Old Fashioned Family Fun Day" on Sunday, <br />September 14`". <br />Report on Closed Session <br />City Attorney Roush said staff met in Closed Session regarding City of Livermore v. Douglas M. <br />Jamieson and Kenneth Hewlett, etc.; Pacific Gas and Electric Company; Pleasanton Gravel <br />Co.; G. W. Jamieson; Marie P. Jamieson; Pleasanton Township County Water District, Case <br />No.: VG08390504 Alameda County Superior Court, and the City Council voted unanimously to <br />authorize the City Attorney's office to file a disclaimer with respect to the matter. <br />Roll Call <br />Present: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman <br />Absent: None <br />AGENDA AMENDMENTS <br />City Manager Fialho said the minutes of June 10 and 26 are continued to the next regular <br />meeting in September. Also, on page 2 of 2 under Item 4, PR-725; this item has been appealed <br />by a Planning Commissioner and will be heard next week by the Planning Commission. <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Administrative Services <br />1. Pulled from the agenda -Approve special meeting minutes of June 10, 2008 and June 26, <br />2008 <br />Citv Manager <br />2. Adopted Resolution No. 08-234 establishing the Committee on Energy and the <br />Environment <br />Vice Mayor Thorne confirmed with the City Manager that any recommendations or priorities <br />given back by the Committee include both an impact on the environment and a statement of <br />cost. Mayor Hosterman noted the committee will comprise of 7 members appointed by herself <br />and ratified by the Council and encouraged residents to apply. Councilmember McGovern <br />requested, and the Council agreed, to add a youth member to serve on the committee. <br />Councilmember Cook-Kallio suggested that teachers also be notified of the application process. <br />3.
