MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING FOR THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY <br />COMMUNITY EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP CONTRACT <br />THIS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING is made and entered into this ~~ <br />day of ~~~ 2000, by and between the CITY OF PLEASANTON, a municipal <br />corporation ("City"), and the LIVERMORE VALLEY JOINT UNIFIED SCHOOL District <br />("District"). <br />RECITALS: <br />A. The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding is to promote education for <br />adults in the Livermore and Pleasanton communities in the areas of public health and safety. <br />B. The State Department of Education has approved courses relating to public safety <br />training and the Board of Education of the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District has <br />approved the offering of such courses through Livermore Adult Education. <br />C. The State Department of Education encourages schools, community organizations <br />and businesses to collaborate in program offerings thereby consolidating resources and reducing <br />duplicated services offered to the community. <br />D. The City of Pleasanton, whose employees include the members of the Livermore- <br />Pleasanton Fire Department (LPFD), has trained staff able to teach courses relating to public <br />safety training. <br />NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual covenants, agreements and <br />conditions contained herein, the City and District agree as follows: <br />I. Providing Classes. The City and District will work cooperatively to provide public safety <br />training classes to the Livermore and Pleasanton communities by carrying out the following <br />duties: <br />Duties of District: <br />1. Meet as needed with assigned LPFD representative to complete a schedule of classes <br />to be offered throughout the year. <br />2. Provide a listing of classes in the Adult Education flier and send announcements to <br />the community calendar for public television. <br />3. Provide the use of a room to hold day, evening, and weekend classes. <br />4. Take the' phone and mail reservations, set up the class enrollment roster, and work <br />with the LPFD trainer on a weekly basis to coordinate training, including private <br />business training. <br />5. Provide an attendance accounting of participants. <br />6. Collect fees and provide an invoice and payment to the City for any agreed upon lab <br />fees due to City. <br />7. Provide a summary list of classes and number of participants, as needed. <br />S. Provide locked storage for class instructional materials. <br />1 <br />
