SCHOOL -CITY AGREEMENT ON COMMUNITY <br />RECREATION FACILITIES AND PROGRAM <br />This agreement, made and entered into this r ‘t day of <br />�vvE 1966, is by and between the City of Pleasanton, a general <br />law city of and in the State of California, hereinafter called "City and the <br />Amador Valley Joint Union High School District of Alameda County and Contra <br />Costa County, State of California, hereinafter called "District <br />WITNESSETH: <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 6 of Division 12 of the Education Code authorizes <br />and empowers cities and public school districts having jurisdiction over the <br />same territory to cooperate with one another for the purpose of authorizing, <br />promoting and conducting programs of community recreation which will <br />contribute to the attainment of general recreational and educational objectives <br />for children and adults of this State; and <br />WHEREAS, the District and the City desire to participate in said <br />program of organized and supervised community recreation so that their <br />residents may be permitted to avail themselves of the benefit of said acti- <br />vities; and <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of this agreement is to provide adequately <br />organized and supervised community recreation services and facilities in all <br />common areas of the City and the District through joint efforts; and to prevent <br />duplication of effort and waste of finances and in order to promote and conduct <br />a program of community recreation successfully; the District and the City <br />mutually desire to mobilize all community resources to effectively and econ- <br />omically meet the present and future needs of their citizens. <br />WHEREAS, the District already provides recreation facilities and <br />operates organized and supervised community recreation of the type and <br />within the scope of Chapter 6 of Division 12, namely, Sections 16651 -16664 <br />of the Education Code of the State of California, and whereas the City has <br />already cooperated with the District in the summer arts and crafts portion <br />of that program; and <br />WHEREAS, the City and District desire to act to further the community <br />recreation program in the public interest by the fullest possible use of public <br />agencies and facilities; and <br />WHEREAS, the City and the District desire to establish a basis for <br />the orderly planning and future development of recreational facilities in the <br />area and the future organization and operation of the community recreation <br />program; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City and the District hereby mutually <br />covenant and agree as follows: <br />1 <br />
