a. The physical education program of the schools. <br />b. Recreation of school children during school hours. <br />c. Operation of the City of Pleasanton Parks Division. <br />SECTION 1. COMBINED RECREATION SERVICE <br />A combined recreation service to provide School District and City <br />recreation is hereby established. The City agrees to operate the combined <br />service through its Recreation and Parks Department. The service shall be <br />organized as hereinafter set out and substantially as indicated on the organiza- <br />tion chart attached hereto. Administrative direction of the combined service <br />shall be provided by the City Manager and the Board of Trustees of said <br />Amador Valley Joint Union High School District. <br />The combined recreation service is organized to provide a recreation <br />program for the people of Pleasanton. The purpose of the recreation program <br />is to organize, promote, and conduct programs of public recreation for children <br />and adults in such fields as music, dancing, drama, art, handcraft, science, <br />literature, nature study, nature contacting, and athletics. <br />The combined recreation service shall not deal with any of the following <br />activities: <br />SECTION 2. RECREATION COMMISSION <br />The parties agree that a Recreation Commission will be established <br />by the City in accordance with Ordinance No. 426 to act in a folava=seidtegrogy AcluisO(" <br />capacity to the City Council. G• Pa #a <br />SECTION 3. USE OF BUILDINGS AND AREAS <br />It is agreed that the contemplated recreation service will use approp- <br />riate School District and City facilities. <br />a. School District Facilities <br />It is understood that the School District's facilities are intended <br />primarily for school purposes. Therefore, use of school facilities for school <br />events and programs shall have first priority, and recreation programs of the <br />combined service shall have second priority, and any other events by other <br />groups or agencies shall have third priority. Nothing in this agreement is <br />intended to restrict or otherwise affect the use of the school buildings and <br />grounds under Sections 16551 to 16566, inclusive, of the Education Code. <br />The School District agrees to grant to the City of Pleasanton upon <br />application the use of any recreation center owned by the School District, <br />which the combined service may require in connection with the community <br />recreation program provided that such use shall not interfere with the School <br />District's use for public school purposes. <br />In the use of District facilities the combined recreation service will <br />abide by the regulations of the District Board of Trustees and the Superintendent <br />of Schools governing the use of such facilities. <br />2 <br />
