<br />MINUTES <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />October 17, 2006 <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Hosterman called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Council member McGovern introduced Boy Scout Troop 949 who led the pledge of <br />allegiance. <br /> <br />Carol Baun, Co-Chair of the Veterans Parade and the Chaplain of VFW Post 6298, <br />commented on the upcoming parade Sunday, November 5, 2006. She also noted the <br />upcoming 1 st Annual. Crab Feed on Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Senior Center. <br /> <br />Council member McGovern noted the following organizations that. support the deployed <br />troops and their families: The Pleasanton Military Support Group, Operation Sam and Blue <br />Star Moms. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGovern also commented that during the giving season persons should <br />not forget the local non-profits that help community families in need. She added that <br />although they could use donations, they could also use volunteers. These organizations <br />include Open Heart Kitchen, Tri-Valley Haven and Shepherd's Gate. <br /> <br />She noted the upcoming Foothill High School Band Review and Parade on Saturday, <br />October 28, and Main Street will be closed to traffic during the activities. <br /> <br />Council member McGovern announced that the City Clerk's Office will be offering early <br />voting through Election Day, and reminded voters that absentee ballots require two postage <br />stamps. <br /> <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Present: Councilmembers Brozosky, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, and Mayor Hosterman <br />Absent: None <br /> <br />3. AGENDA AMENDMENTS: None <br /> <br />4. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />Councilmembers Thorne and McGovern noted that amendments to the Minutes were <br />forwarded to the City Clerk and the changes were made. <br /> <br />Rob Drew addressed the City Council regarding residential solar energy, Item 4h. He noted <br />that the Governor of California joined the Governor of New York in an initiative to reduce <br />green house gases. He commented that the School District's Solar School Program is <br />inspiring, as well as the Solar Plan for Pleasanton and spoke on the importance of local <br />participation in solar programs. He asked that the City continue to provide vision and <br />leadership to the community regarding solar energy. <br /> <br />4a.
